Springfield Crime Blotter: Assault, Drugs, Theft, More

Police said a woman's wallet was stolen as she shopped in the mall Target and then the cards were used in the mall. See more details here.

SPRINGFIELD, PA — Police in Springfield issued their weekly crime blotter Monday.

The blotter features incidents that occurred in the township between Dec. 2 and Dec. 8.

Dec. 2 at 10:56 hrs.
A 51-year-old male from Springfield will be cited for Disorderly Conduct after being observed on the Wawa property causing customers annoyance and alarm. This subject had been warned on prior occasions to cease his activity.

Dec. 2 at 1:28 p.m.
Target at the mall security reported they had investigated an employee for stealing numerous items of Apple and Nintendo products over a period of time. The subject was fired from his employment, and charges for Theft will be filed.

Dec. 2 at 11:24 p.m.
Officers were called to the Parkway Inn for a report of an assault that occurred. The actor had fled the area, but it was learned that the actor had struck a female with whom he was staying with a punch to the face. Det. Devaney is investigating.

Dec. 4 at 7:23 a.m.
Officers responded to the area of Baltimore Pike near Sproul Road for a report of an unconscious person in a vehicle. Upon arrival, they located the driver unconscious with the vehicle running. The vehicle was secured, and the driver awoke. He was found to be under the influence of narcotics and was taken into custody. A quantity of narcotics and drug paraphernalia were found inside the vehicle. Matthew Foster, 34, of Wallingford, was charged with DUI and Drug Offenses and arraigned at Springfield Court.

Dec. 4 at 3:43 p.m.
A resident of the unit block South Hillcrest Road reported a package delivered to her house was stolen from the front porch. Det. McCarthy is investigating.

Dec. 5 at 3:18 p.m.
Eric Thomas, 24, of Chester, was arrested and charged with Retail Theft after Target at the mall security observed him steal $50 worth of clothing. He was found to have an active arrest warrant out of Delaware County for a prior Firearms charge and was taken to Delaware County Prison.

Dec. 5 at 3:56 p.m.
A resident of Doe Run Lane reported sometime overnight someone entered his vehicle in the driveway and removed money and a computer bag which contained a computer and cell phone. The cell phone was later tracked and recovered in Aldan Borough. Det. Devaney is investigating.

Dec. 5 at 5:03 p.m.
A resident of the 500 block West Springfield Road reported a package was stolen from her front porch sometime on Dec. 4.

Dec. 6 at 6:08 p.m.
A 32-year-old Philadelphia woman was arrested and charged with Retail Theft after being observed inside Target at the mall stealing over $300 worth of electronics, jewelry, and grocery items. She was held for arraignment.

Dec. 7 at 11:18 p.m.
Officers and Det. Devaney investigated a burglary report on the 900 block Springhaven Road. Entry to the house was gained sometime during the daytime.

Dec. 7 at 8:26 p.m.
A shopper in the Target Store at the mall reported a wallet was taken from the shopping cart she was using. The victim was notified her credit cards were being used inside the mall, and she located suspects in a store attempting to use her card. The suspects fled the mall and drove off the property in a vehicle. Det. Devaney is investigating.

Dec. 8 at 7:25 a.m.
Officers observed a subject standing at the bus stop on the 500 block Baltimore Pike who appeared to be a subject involved in an earlier incident at the Days Inn. The subject was identified and found to have drugs and drug paraphernalia on his person. He was also found to have an active arrest warrant out of Philadelphia on a drug charge. A 37-year-old Florida man was taken into custody and charged with Drug Possession.
