Springfield Crime Blotter: Assault, DUI, Car Break Ins, More
Police charged a 37-year-old man with aggravated assault after they said he threatened a woman with a knife.
SPRINGFIELD, PA — Police in Springfield released their weekly crime blotter Monday.
Incidents in the blotter occurred between Jan. 24 and Jan. 30.

Jan. 24 at 8:45 a.m.
Three Nissan vehicles parked in the Springfield Square South parking lot had their catalytic converters stolen sometime over the weekend.
Jan. 25 at 1:55 p.m.
Four females were observed running out of the Macy’s store at the mall carrying shopping bags. They entered a vehicle and left the area quickly via Baltimore Pike. It was learned that they had stolen shoes and clothing from inside. Det. Nutley is investigating.

Jan. 26 at 9 a.m.
Township employees reported a handicap parking sign was damaged. Officers observed the metal sign had been ripped off the post in the lot near the Old Central School. Investigation showed this occurred on Jan. 25 by a male subject who also damaged a wooden fence in the rear of the school building. Det. McNeely is investigating.
Jan. 26 at 3:15 p.m.
While on patrol along Baltimore Pike, officers observed a suspicious vehicle suspected of being involved in thefts of catalytic converters in Springfield. They observed the vehicle drive to the mall parking lot where the driver exited and attempted to remove a catalytic converter from a parked vehicle near the Target store. The male left the area and was stopped by police on Route 1 off the blue route exit. Raymond Johnson, 32, of Abington, was taken into custody and charged with Theft. He was later arraigned by district court. Det. Nutley is handling the investigation.
Jan. 27 at 4:30 p.m.
A catalytic converter was reported stolen from a Mitsubishi vehicle parked at Red Lobster sometime during the hour of 3:30 p.m. and 4:30 p.m.
Jan. 29 at 3:06 p.m.
Two unlocked vehicles parked in driveways on the 400 block of Pinecrest Road were entered sometime overnight. One of the vehicles was missing cash and gift cards.
Jan. 29 at 3:57 p.m.
Officers observed a vehicle stuck in a snow bank along the 100 block of Parkview Drive. The vehicle then drove at a police car on the street. Contact was made with the driver who was found to be intoxicated. The driver, a 61-year-old male from Springfield, was taken into custody and asked to submit to a blood test. He was later released to family, and charges for DUI are pending.
Jan. 30 at 4:23 a.m.
Officers responded to a residence on the 300 block of South Swarthmore Avenue for a report that a male had threatened a female with a knife. The male had reportedly left the residence and was located by responding police nearby. The victim said the male who had been staying at the residence used a kitchen knife to threaten her if she contacted police after they had been arguing inside. Officers found the male in possession of a knife and took him into custody. William Crouthamel, 37, was charged with Aggravated Assault and related offenses. He was held for arraignment
