Springfield Crime Blotter: Assault, Stolen Vehicle, Thefts, More

Police said a Red Lobster waiter was assaulted in the parking lot of the restaurant by two men recently. See the full blotter here.

SPRINGFIELD, PA — Police in Springfield issued their crime blotter recently, and we have the details below.

The blotter covers incidents that occurred between Oct. 21 and Oct. 26.

Oct. 21 at 9:16 p.m.
A theft from vehicle occurred in the parking lot of Bertucci’s, 965 Baltimore Pike. The victim discovered a window smashed in his 2015 Dodge Ram. Stolen was a backpack and wallet containing credit cards, work ID and cell phone. Det. Bridget McCarthy is investigating.

Oct. 21 at 9:30 p.m.
A second theft from vehicle occurred in the parking lot of Olive Garden, 1001 Baltimore Pike. The victim discovered a window smashed in her 2019 Jeep. Stolen was a personal bag containing Michael Kors glasses valued at $800. Det. Bridget McCarthy is investigating.

Oct. 22 at 7:31 p.m.
Target, 857 Baltimore Pike, reported a retail theft. A 59-year-old Philadelphia woman was observed filling a tote bag with items. She transferred the merchandise into Target bags and attempted to leave the store without paying. She was detained by security with $738 of stolen merchandise. Morton was turned over to police and charged with Retail Theft. Detective Bridget McCarthy is handling the case.

Oct. 23 at 8:51 p.m.
Target, 1200 Baltimore Pike, reported a retail theft. A 24-year-old Upper Darby woman concealed cosmetic items in her handbag and attempted to leave the store. When approached by security, she dropped the merchandise and fled. She entered an awaiting car, which was stopped by police leaving the mall. Wright was taken into custody and charged with Retail Theft. $307 of merchandise was recovered. Detective Jim Devaney is handling the case.

Oct. 23 at 9:39 p.m.
A theft from vehicle occurred in the parking lot of the Springfield Country Club, 400 W Sproul Rd. The victim discovered a window smashed in his 2017 Toyota Rav4. Stolen was a backpack containing a laptop and employee payroll documents. Det. Bridget McCarthy is investigating.

Oct. 24 at 12:52 p.m.
Target, 857 Baltimore Pike, reported a retail theft. A 28-year-old Philadelphia woman was observed placing merchandise in a cart and covering the cart with coats. He was detained by security as he attempted to leave the store with $325 of stolen items. Bynum was turned over to police. During a search, loose Oxycodone pills were found in his pants pocket. Bynum was charged with Retail Theft and Drug Possession. Det. Dan McNeely is handling the case.

Oct. 24 at 2:16 p.m.
Target, 1200 Baltimore Pike, reported a retail theft. Three subjects entered the store and concealed merchandise in personal bags. They exited with the stolen items and entered a vehicle, which fled the scene. The total amount stolen was estimated to be $500. Descriptions were provided and police are waiting on security video. Det. Jim Devaney is investigating.

Oct. 24 at 11:06 p.m.
Red Lobster, 1 Baltimore Pike, reported an assault. A waiter had finished his shift and entered a vehicle with a co-worker. Two males approached the vehicle and the waiter was pulled out of the car and assaulted. He was punched about the face and body by both males. The offenders left the area prior to police arrival. Descriptions of the males and a vehicle were provided. Det. Bridget McCarthy is investigating.

Oct. 26 at 10:06 a.m.
Report of a stolen vehicle from the Raymour & Flanigan, 65 Baltimore Pike. The victim, an employee, parked his 2013 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited in the lot with the keys in the center console. He discovered the vehicle missing around 2000 hrs. Det. Bridget McCarthy is investigating.

Oct. 26 at 9:03 p.m.
A resident from the 200 block of Ballymore Road reported his house egged. The resident chased a group of juveniles and was able to detain a 13 year old from Springfield. Police transported the juvenile to headquarters where he was turned over to his mother. He was cited for Disorderly Conduct.
