Springfield Crime Blotter: Burglary, Theft, Vandalism, More

SPRINGFIELD, PA — Springfield Police have issued their weekly crime blotter.

Incidents in the blotter occurred between Dec. 7 and Dec. 13.

Dec. 7 at 4:24 p.m.
A resident of the unit block of Lownes Lane reported sometime overnight someone cut an electrical cord for a Christmas lights display. Det. Nutley is investigating.

Dec. 8 at 9:05 p.m.
A resident of the unit block of Meetinghouse Lane reported she came home after being out and found several rooms of her house ransacked. Cash and jewelry were found to be missing from the house. Det. McNeely is investigating.

Dec. 9 at 11:21 a.m.
Target security reported a male subject stole several sets of Legos toys and left the area in a waiting vehicle. Det. McCarthy is investigating.

Dec. 9 at 2:29 p.m.
A business owner at the 1260 E. Woodland Ave. complex reported that two subjects had stolen a box of merchandise including bicycle parts as they loaded pallets in the rear of the businesses. They left in a vehicle. Investigation by Det. McCarthy found a 31-year-old female from Philadelphia was involved in the theft. Charges for theft will be filed.

Dec. 9 at 9:54 a.m.
While on patrol, Ofc. Hurwitz investigated a parked vehicle occupied by several juveniles in a parking lot on the 400 block of Baltimore Pike. They were found to be smoking marijuana inside. Four juveniles from Clifton Heights, Sharon Hill, and Lansdowne were all released to family. Charges are pending.

Dec. 11 at 8:50 a.m.
Employees of California Sun Tanning, 300 block of Baltimore Pike, reported that upon arriving for work they found a safe tampered and cash missing. It appeared that sometime overnight someone pried a rear door to gain entry to the business. Det. McNeely is investigating.

Dec. 13 at 3:09 a.m.
While on patrol, Ofc. Lord observed a male and female walking near the Netherwood Park on the Baltimore Pike side of the park. They were associated with a vehicle parked in the lot that was found to have been reported stolen out of New Jersey. The male was found in possession of the stolen vehicle keys and possessed an amount of illegal narcotics. William Walsh, 31, of Mickelton, New Jersey, was taken into custody and charged with Receiving Stolen Property and drug offenses. He was held for arraignment.
