Springfield Crime Blotter: Car Break-Ins, Vandalism, DUI, Theft, More

A 46-year-old male from Darby was charged with DUI after police said he drove into the Outback Steakhouse Saturday evening.

SPRINGFIELD, PA — Police in Springfield Township issued their weekly crime blotter Monday.

Incidents in the blotter occurred between June 13 and June 20.

June 13 at 11:42 a.m.
The township discovered camera equipment damaged at the Old Central School property. Two subjects identified as juvenile males from Springfield were developed as suspects. Det. McNeely is investigating.

June 14 at 5:12 a.m.
A resident of the 400 block of North Bishop Avenue reported that sometime overnight someone entered his unlocked vehicle and stole an amount of change and a key fob from the console.

June 15 at 4:03 p.m.
Two adults from Texas were cited for soliciting from a highway after being observed on Baltimore Pike and Woodland Avenue asking motorists for money and holding a sign claiming the need was for a surgery. Their stories were found to be inconsistent and not true.

June 17 at 6:18 a.m.
Several unlocked vehicles were entered as they were parked in residents’ driveways overnight on Powell Road, Beechwood Road, Ballymore Road, Gibbons Road, and Sheffield Drive. Quantities of coins were stolen.

June 17 at 5:34 p.m.
A 47-year-old male from Philadelphia was arrested and will be charged with Retail Theft after security at Macy’s at the mall observed him steal close to $200 worth of fragrance. He was found to have active arrest warrants out of Delaware County and was transported to Delaware County Prison.

June 19 at 8:33 p.m.
Officers responded to the Outback Steakhouse, 1100 block of Baltimore Pike, and found a vehicle had driven into the building, damaging the stucco and a handrail. The driver of the vehicle, 46-year-old male from Darby, was found to be intoxicated. He submitted to a blood test and was taken to headquarters. Charges for DUI will be filed.

June 19 at 7:07 p.m.
A shopper at Giant 900, block of Baltimore Pike, reported her wallet had been stolen from her purse which had been in a shopping cart she was using. She reported a male subject had distracted her for a period of time as she shopped. She later found several unauthorized credit card transactions on her accounts.

June 20 at 12:58 a.m.
Officers responded to the area of the 300 block of Lynn Road for a report of a theft from a vehicle. A witness reported that the suspect was still in the area. Officers located the suspect walking on Harwicke Road near Garden Road and stopped him. They identified him as the person who stole from the vehicle. Also in his possession were items from several other nearby properties. The male, Antonio Bradford, 56, from Philadelphia, was taken into custody and found to have active arrest warrants out of Delaware County. He was transported to Delaware County Prison.
