Springfield Crime Blotter: Catalytic Converter Thefts, DUI, More

Police said catalytic converters were stolen from vehicles parked at Miller's Ale House, the Springfield Mall, and other areas last week.

SPRINGFIELD, PA — Police in Springfield Township issued their weekly crime blotter Monday.

Incidents in the blotter occurred between Jan. 17 and Jan. 22.

Jan. 17 at 12:35 p.m.
A resident of the 200 block of Ballymore Road reported the front windshield of a vehicle parked in the rear of the property had been damaged sometime around Jan. 1 by what appeared to be a BB projectile.

Jan. 18 at 6:40 p.m.
A 42-year-old male from Philadelphia will be charged with Retail Theft after security at Macy’s at the mall observed him steal a jacket from a display rack and walk out of the store.

Jan. 19 at 9:15 a.m.
Employees from Giant 900 block of Baltimore Pike reported observing a male subject take headphones and laundry detergent and walk out without paying. When confronted, the male dropped the merchandise and fled on foot. Responding officers located the male, 27, of Essington, and took him into custody. He was later released, and charges for Retail Theft will be filed.

Jan. 22 at 11:07 a.m.
Officers were called to the 200 block of Baltimore Pike to investigate a driver of a vehicle who was unconscious, and the vehicle stopped in traffic. The driver, 47-year-old male from Folcroft, was found to be intoxicated. He was asked to submit to a blood test and later released to family. Charges for DUI and traffic offenses are pending.

The department took several reports of thefts of catalytic converters throughout the week.
A vehicle at Enterprise Leasing Baltimore Pike on Jan. 17, Miller’s Ale House Jan. 18, Daily Times property South Chester Road on Jan. 20, and two vehicles at the mall on Jan. 22
