Springfield Crime Blotter: Counterfeiting, Mail Theft, More

Springfield Police said workers at the Giant on West Sproul Road were able to help police nab alleged counterfeiters. See full details here.

SPRINGFIELD, PA —

Feb. 7 at 2:47 p.m.
Taray Waters, 38, of New Castle, Delaware, was arrested and charged with Retail Theft after Macy’s security observed her steal over $1,600 worth of cookware. She was arraigned at Springfield Court and later transported to Delaware County Prison.

Feb. 9 at2 9:39 a.m.
A member of the YMCA Springfield said that while exercising someone removed the lock from his locker and stole his backpack and wallet. Det. McCarthy is investigating.

Feb. 10 at 2:27 p.m.
A resident of the 100 block of Grandview Road reported that mail placed in the mailbox for delivery was stolen from the mailbox. Det. Nutley is investigating.

Feb. 10 at 7:13 p.m.
Employees at Giant 700 block of West Sproul Road reported two subjects were inside attempting to use a counterfeit bill. The subjects had left the store unsuccessful, but arriving officers located the suspect vehicle in the parking lot. They identified two subjects inside the vehicle and found them in possession of more counterfeit currency. Giant said the same two were responsible for prior thefts using counterfeit bills. Marple PD had just taken a report regarding the same two who successfully used a counterfeit bill to make a purchase in their jurisdiction. The two subjects, one adult male and one adult female both from Philadelphia, were turned over to Marple PD for charges there. Charges for the Springfield incident will be filed.
