Springfield Crime Blotter: Fighting, Drugs, Theft

Police said catalytic converters were stolen on Jan. 14 and Jan. 16 in Springfield. See details on these incidents and more here.

SPRINGFIELD, PA — Springfield Township Police issued their weekly crime blotter Monday.

Incidents in the blotter occurred between Jan. 13 and Jan. 17.

Jan.13 at 3:15 p.m.
Officers were called to the mall to investigate a fight which occurred outside. Five juvenile females from Media, Glenolden, and Clifton Heights were identified as being involved. One of the girls identified was said to have been involved in a previous fight at the mall. Investigation is continuing and charges are pending the outcome.

Jan. 14 at 10:51 a.m.
The Springfield Transportation Authority reported a catalytic converter had been stolen from one of the vans which had been parked in the lot at ETR unit block of West Woodland Avenue.

Jan. 14 at 4:19 p.m.
Macy’s security at the mall reported observing a female select a coat and put it on her body. She attempted to leave the store without paying and was stopped. They then found her to have stolen jeans, a sweater and sneakers in her possession. The 25 year old from Marcus Hook was taken into custody and found to have drug and drug paraphernalia in her possession. She will be charged with Retail Theft and drug offenses.

Jan. 16 at 12:44 p.m.
A resident of the 300 block of Yarnall Drive reported the catalytic converter had been stolen from her vehicle sometime Jan. 13 to Jan. 15. It appeared to have been cut out. Det. McCarthy is investigating.

Jan. 17 at 7:20 a.m.
Officers responded to the 800 block of Grove Avenue for a report of a female subject attempting to enter a neighbor’s vehicle. A witness confronted the female and recovered several items she had taken from the vehicle. Officers found and identified a 31-year-old female from Upper Darby who was found to have stolen jewelry, coins, clothing from the vehicle. She was taken into custody and will be charged with Theft and related offenses. Two other vehicles in the area were later reported to have been illegally entered. Those entries are being investigated to determine if the female was involved.
