Springfield Crime Blotter: Fighting, Thefts, Underage Drinking

Two people will be charged after they got into a fight at the I Smoke Vape Shop inside the Springfield Mall on Feb. 1, police said

SPRINGFIELD, PA — Police in Springfield issued their weekly crime blotter recently, and we have the details here.

Jan. 30, 8:23 p.m.
Officers responded to the 500 block Sheffield Drive to investigate a suspicious person a resident observed on a surveillance camera. Further investigation revealed the male had loitered in a driveway for some time and entered the neighbor’s vehicle and rummaged through it. Nothing was missing. Officers then went to a residence on the 200 block East Thomson Avenue and found a purse had been removed from a vehicle there. An attempt was made on the 600 block Newlin Road but nothing was taken, and an Officer on foot patrol in the area heard the suspect close a car door in a driveway on the 600 block Prospect Road but was unable to locate the suspect.

Jan. 30, 10:30 a.m.
A resident from the 600 block Dunwoody Drive reported someone entered his unlocked vehicle sometime overnight and removed several gift cards from inside.

Jan. 30, 3:52 p.m.
Target at the mall security reported two subjects stopped after being observed stealing electronics. Both were taken into custody and later released to family. An adult male from Upper Chichester and juvenile female from Upper Chichester will be charged with Retail Theft.

Feb. 1, 11:49 p.m.
Officers investigated a noise complaint in the rear of a residence on the 600 block Cheyney Road. They located a group of people congregating and drinking beer several of whom were found to be underage. They were turned over to their parents, and charges for Underage Drinking will be filed.

Feb. 1, 2:43 p.m.
A shopper at Target at the mall reported her purse was removed from her pocketbook sometime as she pushed a shopping cart around the store.

Feb. 1, 3:36 p.m.
A fight involving two people occurred at the I Smoke Vape Shop inside the Springfield Mall. The fight stemmed from a disagreement after an employee took a laser pointer from a group of juveniles. Two subjects will be charged pending investigation.
