Springfield Crime Blotter: Guns, Drugs, Vandalism, More

Two men and a teenager were charged after police said they found a gun and marijuana in their vehicle. See details on this and more here.

SPRINGFIELD, PA — Police in Springfield Township issued their weekly crime blotter Monday.

Incidents featured in the blotter occurred between Sept. 22 and Sept. 27.

Sept. 22 at 10:49 a.m.
A resident of the 200 block Saxer Avenue reported sometime overnight Sept. 19 into Sept. 20 someone entered her unlocked vehicle in the driveway and removed a quantity of coins from a cup holder.

Sept. 22 at 9:34 a.m.
Officers responded to the 700 block Bradford Terrace to investigate an occupied vehicle which was sticking out into traffic. Officers located three subjects inside a vehicle smoking marijuana. Further investigation revealed a loaded handgun located in the center console of the vehicle. All three subjects were taken into custody. Deaquawn Gale and Markel Person, both 19 and of Philadelphia, were charged with weapons and drug offenses and held for arraignment. A 17-year-old juvenile will be petitioned to juvenile court.

Sept. 23 at 3:32 a.m.
While on patrol at the Parkway Inn, Ofc. Bergman observed a male and female verbally fighting near a room. Upon making contact with the two, he found them to be intoxicated and in possession of methamphetamine and pills. Both were taken into custody. A later search of the female revealed her to be in possession of a quantity of heroin. Both were held overnight and released in the morning. Drug charges will be filed against both a 39-year-old male from Sharon Hill and a 33-year-old female from Clifton Heights.

Sept. 24 at 2:30 p.m.
A resident of the 300 block Lynbrooke Road reported a political sign was vandalized by bending and twisting the frame.

Sept. 25 at 3:40 p.m.
Officers were called to the Target Store 800 block Baltimore Pike to investigate the theft of numerous amounts of clothing and diapers. The female suspect left the store and left in a vehicle with an obstructed license plate. The vehicle was observed on Baltimore Pike by assisting officers and stopped on the 1100 block Baltimore Pike. Target security identified the female driver of the vehicle, a 31 year old from Philadelphia, and she was taken into custody. She was later released and charges for Retail Theft were filed.

Sept. 25 at 6:32 p.m.
A 40-year-old female from Drexel Hill will be charged with Defiant Trespassing after an incident at the Wine and Spirits Store 100 block Baltimore Pike. The female was not following store protocol and was asked to leave. She refused and acted disorderly inside the store. Officers responded and removed the female from the store.

Sept. 26 at 2:44 p.m.
While on patrol, Officer Christy observed a vehicle travelling on the 700 block Baltimore Pike with the driver drinking an alcoholic beverage. He also observed the registration to be expired and equipment violations. The driver, 26-year-old male from Media was found to be intoxicated and was in possession of a quantity of marijuana. He was taken into custody and submitted to a blood test. The male was later released to family with DUI and drug charges pending.

Sept. 27 at 1:10 p.m.
A resident of the unit block North Norwinden Drive reported a political sign stolen from the property earlier in the morning. At 10:04 p.m. a resident of the 400 block Alliston Road reported two political signs stolen from his front yard which occurred Sept. 26 at 11:30 p.m.
