Springfield Crime Blotter: Hit And Run, Thefts, Road Rage, More
Police said two people were taken into custody for allegedly threatening a driver with a gun. See details on this and more crimes here.
SPRINGFIELD, PA — Police in Springfield Township issued their weekly crime blotter Monday.
Incidents in the blotter occurred between April 13 and April 17.

April 13, 1:56 p.m.
Target at the mall security reported observing a male select numerous items of electronics, clothing, and health products and place them in a shopping cart. As the subject walked around the store, he was approached by employees asking him if he needed assistance and responded to them in a threatening way. The subject concealed items inside a backpack he selected from display and left the empty cart. Officers responded and located the male attempting to hide. The subject was taken into custody, and over $1100 worth of merchandise was recovered. The subject was identified as Antwoin Simpson, 30, of Philadelphia. He was charged with Retail Theft and related offenses and taken to arraignment.
April 14, 2:22 p.m.
Officers responded to the area of Springfield Road near Windsor Circle to investigate a hit and run crash. The victim said a blue colored vehicle had struck his vehicle as he entered Springfield Road from Windsor Circle, and the vehicle continued driving away from the scene. Responding officers located a vehicle fitting the description with heavy front damage a few blocks away. The driver was identified and found to be in possession of marijuana. Charges for traffic violation and drug possession will be filed against the 21-year-old male from Clifton Heights.

April 14, 2:50 p.m.
While on patrol, Sgt. McKenna observed a male subject harassing customers for money along the 100 block of Saxer Avenue. The 58-year-old male from Springfield was sent on his way and will be charged with a township ordinance violation.
April 15, 8:09 a.m.
Officers were called to a house on the 100 block of School Lane to check on the well being of the occupants. When they arrived, they found both occupants of the house deceased inside. A 37-year-old female and 10-year-old female were located in the living room. The circumstances and causes of death are still being investigated.
April 15, 12:52 p.m.
CVS, 300 block of Baltimore Pike, reported two subjects loading a handbasket with soap. They ran out of the store without paying for the soap. They left the area in a vehicle. Det. Devaney is investigating.
April 15, 3:32 p.m.
Officers investigated a road rage incident which involved occupants of a vehicle threatening violence with a gun against occupants of another vehicle. The incident was found to have occurred in Upper Darby Township, but a short time later our officers located the suspect vehicle in the parking lot of the Days Inn, 600 block of Baltimore Pike. The two subjects involved were located and held for Upper Darby Police.
April 16, 8:38 a.m.
Officers responded to State Road at Rolling Road for a hit-and-run crash. They found a vehicle had struck another in the intersection. After both drivers briefly spoke, the occupants of the striking vehicle reentered their vehicle, but the driver and passenger switched seats. The vehicle then crashed into two other vehicles in the intersection before leaving the area. The striking vehicle was located a short time later in a parking lot on the 600 block of Baltimore Pike. Two subjects found to be the drivers were taken into custody and charged with traffic violations. Joey Shumate, 34,and Jamie Williams, 28, both of North Carolina were taken to arraignment.
April 17, 7:30 a.m.
A 52-year-old male from Springfield was stopped and will be charged with a township ordinance violation after being observed along the 100 block of Saxer Avenue harassing people for money.
