Springfield Crime Blotter: Hit And Run, Thefts, Vandalism, More

Police said a 16-year-old boy struck a vehicle while driving under the influence early Sunday morning. See details on this and more here.

SPRINGFIELD, PA — Police in Springfield Township issued their weekly crime blotter Monday.

Incidents in the blotter occurred between Oct. 26 and Nov. 1.

Oct. 26 at 7:09 a.m.
Unlocked vehicles were entered on Evan Road and Pancoast Avenue. Credit cards and a wallet were taken. The cards were used for unauthorized purchases at unknown locations. Sgt. J. DiTrolio is investigating.

Oct. 26 at 7:09 a.m.
A resident of the 500 block Cheyney Road reported that at 6:09 a.m. he observed two subjects around his Honda vehicle, and one of them was underneath. The subjects admitted they were trying to steal the catalytic converter and then left the area in a vehicle. Later in the day Officers took a report from the 300 block East Thomson Avenue of a missing catalytic converter from a Honda vehicle.

Oct. 26 at 2:01 p.m.
Target at the mall security reported observing a male subject concealing electronics merchandise inside a backpack he was carrying. Officers responded and located the male leaving the store and recovered over $130 worth of product. A 22-year-old male from Upper Darby was charged with Retail Theft and released. He was also charged with prior thefts from Target that occurred earlier in October.

Oct. 27 at 11:20 a.m.
A resident of the 400 block Indian Rock Drive reported political signs were stolen from the property.

Oct. 30 at 8:45 p.m.
A caller reported four juveniles on skateboards and bikes threw eggs at a house on the 200 block Powell Road.

Oct. 31 at 3:37 p.m.
A caller reported observing a male subject take a political sign off the front lawn of a house on the 200 block Brock Road. The caller asked the male to put the sign back but he refused and ran towards Powell Road.

Nov. 1 at 11:39 p.m.
Officers were called to investigate a fight on the 300 block Butler Road. Charges will be filed against one of the subjects involved, 30-year-old male from Glenolden, for Disorderly Conduct and Public Drunkenness.

Nov. 1 at 1:33 a.m.
Officers responded to the 200 block South Highland Road to investigate a hit and run crash. They responded and found the striking vehicle about a block away from the where the crash occurred. A 16-year-old male from Morton was found to be the driver and he had struck a parked car while travelling on Highland Road. The driver was found to be intoxicated and taken into custody. He submitted to a blood test and was then turned over to family.
