Springfield Crime Blotter: Miller’s Robbery, Walsh Park Vandalism

Police said an armed man robbed Miller's Ale House while it was closed to the public on March 12. See details on this and other crimes here.

SPRINGFIELD, PA — Police in Springfield issued their weekly crime blotter recently, and we have the details.

Incidents in the blotter occurred between March 9 and March 15.

March 9, 10:18 p.m.
A resident of the 500 block Stidman Drive reported his vehicle had been damaged sometime the past two days. The damage was a scratch of the paint along the side of the vehicle and was the third time it happened.

March 12, 1:34 a.m.
Officers responded to Miller’s Ale House unit block Baltimore Pike for a report of a robbery that occurred inside. It was learned that after the restaurant was closed for business an actor entered the business and displayed a gun. He removed several cash boxes and a cell phone and left going towards Bishop Avenue. Det. McCarthy is investigating.

March 12, 6:37 p.m.
A juvenile male from Drexel Hill was arrested and charged with Retail Theft after security at Target at the mall reported observing him select and conceal multiple charging cables from the Electronics Department. He was later released to family.

March 13, 10:23 a.m.
A shopper who had been at BJ’s Wholesale Club reported shopping the day before and dropping her purse as she walked to her car. She returned to the store and found the purse had been turned in to customer service but was missing cash, earbuds, and a vehicle key fob.

March 15, 1 a.m.
Officers responded to the intersection of Baltimore Pike and Bishop Avenue to investigate an unconscious female in the driver seat of a running vehicle. They found the vehicle which had damage to the front bumper stopped on Bishop Avenue at Baltimore Pike. The driver, a 38-year-old female from Secane, was found to be intoxicated, and an open bottle of beer was found inside the vehicle. She was taken into custody and submitted to a test of her blood. She was later released pending charges for DUI.

March 15, 6:21 p.m.
Officers responded to Walsh Park for a report of a group of juveniles damaging property. They found a picnic table top had been split by a juvenile male who had deliberately jumped on it. The male, 13 of Drexel Hill, was located by officers nearby, and his father was contacted. He will be charged with Criminal Mischief to Public Property.
