Springfield Crime Blotter: Retail Theft, Theft From Cars, More

Police said residents on Garden Road, South Norwinden Drive, West Avenue, and Ogden Place had their vehicles broken into overnight Feb 15.

SPRINGFIELD, PA — Police in Springfield Township issued their weekly crime blotter Monday.

Incidents in the blotter occurred between Feb. 14 and Feb. 17.

Feb. 14, 1:46 p.m.
A shopper who was at Giant, 700 block of West Sproul Road, reported that while shopping, her purse went missing from her shopping cart. The purse was later located in a different area of the store, but her wallet from inside the purse was stolen. Sgt. J. DiTrolio is investigating.

Feb. 15, 1:22 p.m.
Macy’s security at the mall reported stopping a male subject after observing him steal over $580 worth of clothing. Officers responded and took a 37-year-old-male from Philadelphia into custody. He was processed and released, and charges for Retail Theft will be filed.

Feb. 16, 7:09 a.m.
Several residents from Garden Road, South Norwinden Drive, West Avenue, and Ogden Place, all reported their vehicles had been entered sometime overnight. Most were parked in driveways, and all appeared to have been left unlocked. Varying amounts of cash and coins were stolen. Det. McCarthy is investigating.

Feb. 17, 8:59 a.m.
An employee from the Springfield Country Club reported the catalytic converter was stolen from her Honda vehicle while it was parked in the lot sometime Feb. 12 while she worked.
