Springfield Crime Blotter: Stolen Vehicle, Cell Phone Theft, More

Police said a Nissan Altima was stolen from a parking lot then recovered after a hit and run in Darby. See the full crime blotter here.

SPRINGFIELD, PA — The latest Springfield Police crime blotter is out, and we have all the details below.

Incidents included in the blotter occurred between Sept. 23 and Sept. 29.

Sept. 23 at 10:46 p.m.
An employee of Thunderbird Pizza 100 block Saxer Avenue reported his cell phone was stolen after an Uber Eats driver picked it off the counter on his way out of the store with a delivery. Det. Devaney is investigating.

Sept. 24 at 8:47 p.m.
Macys Security reported an employee was investigated and found to have stolen over $400 cash from the register by under ringing merchandise and stealing the difference. The employee was identified as a 23-year-old male from Philadelphia. Charges for theft will be filed.

Sept. 26 at 3:41 p.m.
Target at the mall security reported a female in custody for stealing over $200 worth of jewelry. She was observed concealing the jewelry in her purse and walking out of the store. Nicole Wimbish, 37, of Chester, was taken into custody and charged with Retail Theft and held for arraignment.

Sept. 26 at 6:18 p.m.
Employees of the Wine and Spirits Store reported a female entered the store with a small child and loitered inside for a period of time. She selected a bottle of Crown Royal and walked out the front door forgetting to pay and left the area in a vehicle. Employees recognized the female from prior thefts. On Sept. 27 at about 9 p.m., three females entered the store also familiar to employees and attempted to steal a bottle of Vodka. The bottle was recovered, and the females left the area. Sgt. J. DiTrolio is investigating.

Sept. 27 at 4:32 p.m.
Target at the mall security reported observing a male select numerous items of merchandise from several departments. The male went to self checkout and scanned a few items but placed all the other items inside a bag. He only paid for some of the items but stole about $150 worth of other items. Kenneth Donato, 48, of Brookhaven, was taken into custody, charged with Retail Theft and released.

Sept. 29 at 10:53 a.m.
Officers took a stolen vehicle report on the unit block Midland Road. The victim reported that sometime overnight someone stole her Nissan Altima which was parked in the lot. A short time after the report, Darby Borough Police notified us the vehicle had been involved in a hit and run crash in their borough. A male was observed leaving the scene after the crash. The vehicle was recovered but severely damaged.
