Springfield Crime Blotter: Theft, Drugs, Disorderly Conduct, More

Police said a man and woman were found with crack and heroin after stumbling along Sproul Road on July 1. See the full blotter here.

SPRINGFIELD, PA — Springfield Police issued their weekly crime blotter Monday.

Incidents in the blotter occurred between June 27 and July 3.

June 27 at 2:02 p.m.
Officers investigated a crash in which a vehicle struck another from behind while on the 600 block of Baltimore Pike. The driver of the striking vehicle appeared to be suffering some type of medical emergency, but it was later learned he may have been under the influence of PCP. The male from Glen Mills was transported to a hospital by ambulance and asked to submit to a blood test. Charges are pending.

June 27 at 7:48 p.m.
Three males were observed by a mall employee breaking into the drink refrigerator outside the Tony Luke's sandwich shop and stealing drinks.

June 27 at 8:36 p.m.
A female shopping at Giant, 900 block of Baltimore Pike, reported that while shopping she became distracted by a woman who engaged her in conversation. The shopper later realized that her wallet and credit cards were missing from her purse. Several unauthorized purchases were made against the credit cards.

June 29 at 8:42 a.m.
Officers were called to the intersection of State Road at Meetinghouse Lane for a report of a shooting. Officers responded and found a victim in the driver’s seat of a vehicle, bleeding from his eye. It was learned that this male had just been shot by a male subject from another vehicle. That vehicle fled the scene after the shooting. The victim was treated by medical personnel, but later pronounced deceased. On June 30, Saddiq Washington, 22, of Darby, was arrested and charged with murder and related offenses. He was arraigned and transported to Delaware County Prison.

June 30 at 12:44 a.m.
Officers responded to the 300 block of Memorial Park Drive for a report of an unknown vehicle in a resident’s driveway. The vehicle left prior to arrival of police, but was located in the area. Two subjects were identified; one a 39-year-old male from Philadelphia and the other a 29-year-old female from Philadelphia, and both were found to be intoxicated. The female needed medical treatment and was transported to a hospital, and the male was taken into custody. Both will be charged with Public Drunkenness.

July 1 at 8:05 p.m.
While on patrol, Officer Walsh observed two subjects stumbling on Sproul Road near Thomson Avenue. He found them to be under the influence of narcotics and in possession of heroin and crack and drug paraphernalia. The male, 41 years old from Darby, was taken into custody and will be charged with drug offenses. The female, 43 years old from Philadelphia, was taken into custody and found to have an active arrest warrant out of Delaware County. She was transported to Delaware County Prison.

July 1 at 11:58 a.m.
Wine and Spirits Shop employees reported a male subject had walked out of the store with a box full of assorted alcoholic beverages and fled in a vehicle. Det. McNeely is investigating.

July 1 at 9:06 p.m.
A resident of the 500 block of West Rolling Road reported three young females attempted to steal packages from the front porch. The resident was able to get the packages back, but the females fled.

July 2 at 6:57 p.m.
Officers responded to the unit block of Locust Avenue for a report of an unknown female knocking on doors asking to use a phone. Officers located the female and found her to be intoxicated. Sharon Connolly 38, of Aston, was taken into custody and charged with Public Drunkenness and Disorderly Conduct. She was later released.

July 3 at 8:27 p.m.
A 57-year-old male from Upper Darby will be charged with Disorderly Conduct after being observed by police urinating on a tree at the bus stop on Baltimore Pike at Saxer Avenue.
