Springfield Crime Blotter: Theft, Vandalism, Car Break Ins

Three vehicles parked at the Springfield Shopping Center had windows smashed and items stolen from them recently, police said.

SPRINGFIELD, PA — Police in Springfield issued their weekly crime blotter Monday.

Incidents in the blotter occurred between Dec. 7 and Dec. 13.

Dec. 7 at 4:10 p.m.
A customer at Orange Theory Fitness, 100 block of South State Road, reported her wallet was stolen from a locker while she exercised.

Dec. 7 at 7:49 p.m.
Three vehicles parked at the Springfield Shopping Center, 700 block of West Sproul Road, were broken into by someone smashing their windows. Purses were taken from inside the vehicles. In one instance, the suspect accessed a bank account of a victim in King of Prussia. Det. McNeely is investigating.

Dec. 8 at 7:54 p.m.
Macy’s security at the mall reported a male subject had stolen a quantity of fragrances and left the
store. The male was tracked to the Target store where he was stopped by police and taken into custody. A 30-year-old Philadelphia man was charged with Retail Theft. Over $700 worth of product was recovered.

Dec. 9 at 2:19 p.m.
An employee at the Giant Store, 700 block of West Sproul Road, reported her license plate was stolen from her vehicle while she worked.

Dec. 9 at 3 p.m.
Two subjects were observed by Macy’s security at the mall selecting merchandise and concealing it behind a sales counter inside a shopping bag. They were stopped by security and held for police. A 24-year-old Abington resident, and a 21-year-old Conshohocken woman were taken into custody and charged with Retail Theft.

Dec. 9 at 4:28 p.m.
A 38-year-old Philadelphia resident was arrested and charged with Retail Theft after being
observed at Target 800 block of Baltimore Pike stealing over $400 worth of electric toothbrushes.

Dec. 9 at 8:12 p.m.
A 32-year-old male from Philadelphia will be charged with Retail Theft after he was observed at Macy’s in the mall stealing several jackets. Det. McNeely is investigating.

Dec. 9 at 11 p.m.
Several parked vehicles at the Springfield Mall were found with damaged window glass. The damage appeared to be caused by small projectiles. Det. McNeely is investigating.

Dec. 11 at 11:13 a.m.
Two residential properties in the area of Grove Avenue and Bellevue Avenue were damaged sometime the prior evening. On Bellevue Avenue a light fixture was damaged, and on Grove Avenue a part of a fence was knocked out.

Dec. 13 at 1:19 p.m.
Target security, 800 block of Baltimore Pike, reported observing a male concealing electronic merchandise inside two backpacks he was carrying and leave the store. He was stopped by police, and over $1,300 worth of merchandise was recovered. The male, 36 of Philadelphia, was also in possession of drug paraphernalia. Det. McNeely is investigating.
