Springfield Crime Blotter: Theft, Vandalism, Car Break Ins, More

A Delaware man was charged with assault and more after police said he followed an ex-girlfriend into her home and struck her.

SPRINGFIELD, PA — Police in Springfield Township issued their weekly crime blotter Monday.

Incidents in the blotter occurred between Oct. 25 and Oct. 31.

Oct. 25 at 5:52 hrs.
Macy’s security reported they had stopped a male subject for stealing clothing, electronics, and jewelry. Officers responded and identified Charles Cherry, 29, unknown address and took him into custody. He was found to also have an active arrest warrant out of Delaware County for theft. He was later transported to Delaware County Prison. Charges for Retail Theft were filed.

Oct. 25 at 5:41 p.m.
A female came to headquarters to report she had been assaulted earlier in the day while visiting an apartment at Rolling Green Apartments, 200 block of North State Road. She said that an ex-boyfriend had followed her to the apartment and confronted her inside. He tried to get her to leave with him and struck her several times before fleeing the area. Officers identified the male as 24 years old from New Castle. Charges for Assault were filed, and an arrest warrant filed.

Oct. 27 at 12:57 p.m.
Officers responded to the 800 block of Homestead Avenue for a report of multiple male subjects entering vehicles on the block of. Nothing was found to have been stolen, but two vehicles were entered. Morton PD had a similar report a short time earlier in their borough. Det. Devaney is investigating.

Oct. 30 at 4:39 a.m.
A witness observed a male subject enter a parked vehicle in a driveway on the 700 block of Avondale Lane. Officers responded and observed a male in a driveway who fled towards the wooded area behind houses. After a short time, the male exited the woods and tried to leave in a waiting vehicle. Officers stopped the vehicle and apprehended the male. David Cleary, 32, of Philadelphia was taken into custody and held for arraignment. He was later transported to Delaware County Prison.

Oct. 30 at 12:52 p.m.
A business owner on the 100 block of Baltimore Pike reported the front door to the business was smashed and a rock thrown through a glass window. Investigation showed the incident occurred at about 1:50 a.m. by two subjects who fled east after the mischief. Det. Nutley is investigating.

Oct. 31 at 7:01 p.m.
An employee of the Gulf Station, 400 block of Baltimore Pike, reported two males entered the store. While one male distracted the employee, the other male went behind the counter and stole money from the register. The males then left the business and fled in a vehicle. Det. Nutley is investigating.

Oct. 31 at 2148 hrs.
A motorist driving along the 200 block of South Rolling Road reported her vehicle was struck by several objects as she passed the high school. She observed a group of subjects near the main entrance in Halloween costumes. The vehicle windshield was damaged. Det. Nutley is investigating.
