Springfield Crime Blotter: Theft, Vandalism, DUI Crash, More

SPRINGFIELD, PA — Police in Springfield issued their weekly crime blotter recently.
Incidents in the blotter occurred between Dec. 20 and Dec. 24.

Dec. 20 at 2:14 p.m.
A shopper at Giant, 900 block of Baltimore Pike, reported her purse was taken from her handbag which was in a shopping cart as she shopped. Credit cards were later used at several stores in the county. Sgt. J. DiTrolio is investigating.
Dec. 20 at 3:55 p.m.
A resident of the 800 block of North Avenue reported someone threw a rock and smashed the rear window to his vehicle sometime overnight.

Dec. 20 at 9:35 p.m.
Officers investigated a crash on the 200 block of Powell Road in which a vehicle struck two parked cars and overturned on its roof. The driver, a 44-year-old female from Drexel Hill, appeared to be intoxicated and possessed a quantity of drugs and drug paraphernalia. She was taken into custody and asked to submit to a blood test. She remained at a hospital for treatment. Charges for DUI and Drug Offenses are pending.
Dec. 21 at 9:45 p.m.
A 41-year-old female from Philadelphia will be charged with Retail Theft after it was reported that she stole over $250 worth of fragrance and kitchen appliances from Macy’s at the mall.
Dec. 22 at 7:06 p.m.
A 44-year-old male from Clifton Heights will be charged with Retail Theft and False ID to police after he was stopped by Macy’s security for stealing over $600 worth of clothing. He initially provided false identification to police, but his identification was later verified.
Dec. 23 at 7:43 p.m.
A shopper at the Giant 700 block of West Sproul Road reported her wallet had been stolen from inside her purse. She said her purse had been sitting in a shopping cart as she shopped. Several credit cards were later used at local stores. Det. Nutley is investigating.
Dec. 24 at 5:13 p.m.
A 23-year-old male from Lansdowne will be charged with Retail Theft after Macy’s security reported he stole close to $300 worth of clothing.
