Springfield Crime Blotter: Thefts, Assault, DUI, More

A Red Lobster worker was attacked after telling a customer to not put their hands in the lobster tank, police said. See more details here.

SPRINGFIELD, PA — The most recent crime blotter from Springfield Township Police has been released, and we have the details.

Incidents in the blotter occurred between Oct.9 and Oct. 14.

Oct. 9 at 2:26 a.m.
An employee of Nick’s Roast Beef, 10 E. Woodland Ave., reported a subject sleeping on the steps of the business. Thomas Lafferty, 29, of Brookhaven, was found intoxicated and taken into custody. He was cited for Public Drunkenness and released to a family member.

Oct. 9 at 12:52 p.m.
Target, 1200 Baltimore Pike, reported a retail theft. Delilah White, 54, of Chester, and an unidentified accomplice selected numerous items and proceeded to self-checkout. They scanned a pair of socks multiple times while bagging all the other items. White was detained by security as she attempted to leave the store. The total of unpaid merchandise was $283. She was turned over to police, charged with Retail Theft and held for arraignment. Detective Dan McNeely is handling the case.

Oct. 9 at 6:55 p.m.
Target, 1200 Baltimore Pike, reported a retail theft. Brianne Geiger, 28, of Glenolden, concealed cosmetic items in a black bag and attempted to leave the store. She was detained by security and $112 in stolen merchandise was recovered. She was cited for Retail Theft and released. Detective Bridget McCarthy is handling the case.

Oct. 10 at 9:30 a.m.
A resident from the 500 block of West Springfield Road reported a theft from vehicle overnight. The victim was contacted through Facebook by a Good Samaritan who had found her passport on the street. She checked her vehicle and discovered her handbag had been stolen. The vehicle was parked in the driveway and unlocked.

Oct. 11 at 4:05 p.m.
Giant, 721 West Sproul Road, reported the use of counterfeit money. A subject attempted to purchase cereal and milk with a counterfeit $100 bill. After being told the bill was fake, the subject left the store. Detective Bridget McCarthy is investigating.

Oct. 11 at 5:40 p.m.
Target, 857 Baltimore Pike, reported a retail theft. Taron Perkins, 21, of Philadelphia, was observed selecting a TV and an alarm clock and attempting to leave the store without paying. Total amount of the theft was $254. After a brief struggle, he was detained by security and later turned over to police. Perkins was charged with Retail Theft and held for arraignment. Det. Bridget McCarthy is handling the case.

Oct. 11 at 8:49 p.m.
A customer at Panera Bread, 1022 Baltimore Pike, report her wallet stolen while eating lunch earlier in the day. The wallet contained $100, credit cards, a social security card, and driver’s license. Several credit cards had been fraudulently used at area stores. Det. Bridget McCarthy is investigating.

Oct. 11 at 9:37 p.m.
Red Lobster, 1 Baltimore Pike, reported an assault. A customer repeatedly placed his hands in the lobster tank. An employee advised the customer this conduct was not allowed and an argument ensued. The customer slapped the employee and a fight broke out. The employee was struck in the face several times before staff separated the two. The customer left the scene before police arrived. Descriptions of the customer and his vehicle were provided, and restaurant video captured the incident. Det. Bridget McCarthy is investigating.

Oct. 13 at 11:33 p.m.
While on patrol, Sgt. Jeff Shull observed a vehicle in the 600 block of Baltimore Pike driving without headlights. The vehicle was stopped and contact made with the driver, Johnny Billie, 47, of Philadelphia. Billie showed signs of intoxication and could not satisfactorily complete field tests. He was arrested and charged with DUI. He was released to his wife. Det. Jim Devaney is handling the case.

Oct. 14 at 1:41 a.m.
A resident from the 300 block of West Avenue reported a theft from vehicle. The victim heard a noise in the driveway, looked out the window and saw his car door open. He went out to investigate and discovered loose change missing from the console. He did not see any suspects in the area.
