Springfield Crime Blotter: Thefts From Cars, Assault, More

Police reported seven instances of unlocked vehicles being entered in the last week. See details of the crime blotter here.

SPRINGFIELD, PA — The most recent crime blotter was released by the Springfield Police Department Monday.

Incidents in the blotter occurred between April 20 and April 26.

April 20, 6:40 p.m.
Officers responded to BJ’s Wholesale, 1200 block of East Woodland Avenue, for a report of an assault that occurred. Upon arrival, they spoke to a female who reported that an ex-boyfriend had been in the parking lot and kicked the fender of her vehicle. He then shoved the female against the vehicle. Det. Devaney is investigating, and charges are pending.

April 21, 10 a.m.
The owner of a business on the 500 block of Eagle Road reported someone had broken into his storage shed and removed a quantity of tools. Det. McNeely is investigating.

April 21, 3:43 p.m.
While on patrol, officers observed a vehicle driving east on the 500 block of Baltimore Pike committing several traffic violations. The vehicle was stopped, and the driver identified as having a suspended driver’s license. During the encounter officers located inside the vehicle quantities of marijuana, pills and other illegal substances. A 45-year-old woman from Drexel Hill was taken into custody and charged with drug related offenses and taken for arraignment.

April 22, 9:03 a.m.
A resident of the 300 block of Wyndmoor Road reported sometime overnight someone entered his unlocked vehicle and removed a wallet. Credit cards were found to have been used at several locations. Det. McNeely is investigating. A resident of Wayfield Road reported a vehicle had been entered but nothing was missing from inside.

April 24, 5:45 a.m.
A resident of the 500 block of Wesley Road reported sometime overnight someone entered his unlocked vehicle and stole money and computer equipment.

April 24, 12:25 p.m.
A resident of the 300 block of Prospect Road reported sometime overnight someone entered his unlocked vehicle and removed a flashlight from inside.

April 24, 6:03 p.m.
A resident of the 500 block of Sheffield Drive reported sometime during the night April 22 or April 23 someone entered his unlocked vehicle parked in the driveway. Nothing was found to be taken.

April 25, 12:16 p.m.
A resident of the 300 block of Prospect Road reported sometime after noon April 23 someone entered her unlocked vehicle parked in the driveway and stole a small quantity of loose change.

April 25, 1:05 p.m.
The manager at CVS, 300 block of Baltimore Pike, reported he observed a male and female concealing merchandise in bags and try to leave the store. They were confronted by employees, and merchandise from the female was recovered. The male was able to flee the store with an unknown quantity of merchandise. Det. Devaney is investigating.

April 25, 1:28 p.m.
A resident of the 200 block of South Norwinden Drive reported sometime overnight someone entered his unlocked vehicle and stole a quantity of loose change.

April 25, 9:47 p.m.
A resident of the 200 block of Ridgewood Road reported sometime overnight April 23 or April 24 someone entered his unlocked vehicle in the driveway and stole a small amount of money.

April 26, 7:48 a.m.
A resident of the 300 block of Gibbons Road reported reviewing surveillance video from her property and observing overnight someone attempted to enter her vehicle in the driveway. Her vehicle was locked and the subject walked away. The subject appeared to be a male wearing a sweatshirt.

April 26, 11:25 a.m.
While on patrol, officers observed a subject on the 100 block of Saxer Avenue harassing customers exiting the Rite Aid store. The subject, 52-year-old male from Springfield, was removed from the area and charges will be filed.

April 26, 4:22 p.m.
Employees at CVS, 300 block Baltimore Pike, reported a young female had selected a quantity of makeup and lotion products and left the store without paying. Det. Devaney is investigating.
