Springfield Crime Blotter: Thefts, DUI, Drugs, More

Police said two crashes involving suspected intoxicated drivers occurred on May 13 and May 15. See details on these incidents and more here.

SPRINGFIELD TOWNSHIP, PA — Police in Springfield Township issued their weekly crime blotter Monday.

Incidents in the blotter occurred between May10 and May 15.

May 10 at 8:09 p.m.
Officers responded to the area of Kennerly Road and Maddock Road for a domestic dispute involving a male and his parents. Officers found the male, 34, of Drexel Hill, was intoxicated and took him into custody. He was released the next day and will be charged with Disorderly Conduct and Public Drunkenness.

May 10 at 10:59 p.m.
A 32-year-old male from Springfield was taken into custody after being found intoxicated on the 200 block of Alliston Road and attempting to damage property. He was released the next day and will be charged with Disorderly Conduct and Public Drunkenness.

May 11 at 2:58 p.m.
Officers were called to the CVS Store, 700 block of Baltimore Pike, for a report of a female stealing OTC medication and vitamins and who may have been involved in prior thefts from other CVS stores. Officers located Elizabeth Rechenberg, 30, of Philadelphia, walking out of the store with stolen merchandise valued at over $500. She was taken into custody and found to have active arrest warrants from Philadelphia, Chester, and Delaware counties. She was transported to Delaware County Prison and will be charged with Retail Theft.

May 12 at 3:29 p.m.
While investigating a crash on the 700 block of West Sproul Road, Ofc. Christy was informed that a male subject walking towards him had just stolen from the Giant Store. He was able to stop the male, who was a 54-year-old from Philadelphia. It was learned the male had stolen over $100 worth of baby formula. The male was taken into custody and later released. Charges for Retail Theft will be filed.

May 12 at 7:05 p.m.
A 29-year-old male from Media will be charged with Retail Theft after security at Target at the mall reported he had stolen over $100 worth of trading cards from the display.

May 13 at 10:04 a.m.
Officers were called to the 900 block of Baltimore Pike to investigate a domestic dispute involving a male and female. While speaking with the male, it was learned the male had just stolen items from the Giant Store valued at close to $50. The male was taken into custody and later released. He will be charged with Retail Theft.

May 13 at 11:25 a.m.
A 45-year-old female was arrested after security at Macy’s reported she had stolen over $100 worth of perfume. She was taken into custody and later released. She will be charged with Retail Theft.

May 13 at 2:29 p.m.
Officers investigated a crash on Baltimore Pike at Woodland Avenue and found the operator of a vehicle was intoxicated. The male, 43, of Media, was taken to a hospital for treatment of injuries. He submitted to a blood test, and charges for DUI and traffic offenses are pending.

May 13 at 2:45 p.m.
While on patrol at the Parkway Inn, 600 block of Baltimore Pike, Officers were informed that an amount of heroin was found inside a room. While investigating, the male who had rented the room returned. The male was found to have an active arrest warrant from New Jersey and was taken into custody. Christopher Hurrell 32, of Highlands, New Jersey, was charged with Fugitive from Justice and transported to Delaware County Prison. The suspected heroin was confiscated.

May 13 at 4:30 p.m.
Gregory Chavous, 37, of Philadelphia, was arrested and charged with Retail Theft after employees at the Rite Aid, 100 block of Saxer Avenue, reported he had stolen over $1,100 worth of OTC medication. The male was held for arraignment and later transported to Delaware County Prison.

May 14 at 5:11 p.m.
Officers were informed that a male subject had stolen two scooters from the Target Store, 800 block of Baltimore Pike, and was pushing them in a shopping cart on Baltimore Pike. Officers located an empty shopping cart in the area of Baltimore Pike and Leamy Avenue and a SEPTA bus pulling away from its stop. The bus was stopped, and officers observed the male suspect with two scooters in a front seat. The male was identified as the thief and taken into custody. The scooters were recovered and valued at close to $700. Anthony Boone, 34, of Philadelphia, was charged with Retail Theft and other offenses and arraigned. He was found to have multiple active arrest warrants for prior violent crimes. He was later transported to Delaware County Prison.

May 15 at 7:46 a.m.
Officers investigated a crash on State Road at Springfield Road in which a vehicle drove through a red signal and struck a vehicle turning left. The driver, 42, of Springfield, was found to be intoxicated and taken into custody. He was released to medical personnel for treatment, and charges for DUI and traffic offenses are pending.

May 15 at 3:14 p.m.
Officers were called to Williams Park, 100 block of Powell Road, to investigate a male subject reportedly smoking marijuana. Upon making contact with the male, the male began to create a disturbance by yelling and screaming and refusing to cooperate and provide his name. The male’s sister and father arrived at the park, and all three continued to act disorderly and accuse police of harassing them for no reason. The male was taken into custody for identification purposes and later released. He is a 23-year-old from Springfield. Charges for township park violations and drug offenses are pending
