Springfield Crime Blotter: Underage Drinking, Theft, Harassment
Police are charging four people in three separate underage drinking incidents that occurred in the past week. See details here.
SPRINGFIELD, PA — The latest crime blotter from Springfield Police is out.
Incidents in the blotter occurred between Sept. 30 and Oct. 2.

Sept. 30 at 3:47 p.m.
Officers responded to the Target Store 800 block of Baltimore Pk. for a report that a male subject had stolen three cell phones from display and left the store. The suspect was observed in the area of Woodland Avenue and after a short foot chase, the male was taken into custody. Bernard Billups, 32, of Philadelphia, will be charged with Retail Theft and other offenses. It was found he had an active arrest warrant from Montgomery County for theft, and he was turned over to Montgomery County Sheriffs.
Oct. 1 at 4:35 p.m.
A 16-year-old male from Springfield was stopped in a vehicle parked behind businesses on the unit block of Baltimore Pike and found to possess a case of hard iced tea alcoholic beverage. The male was taken into custody and turned over to family. A charge for Underage Drinking was filed.

Oct. 1 at 9:15 p.m.
While on patrol, Officer Fiore observed a large group of juveniles congregating in the area of the 100 block of Harwicke Road. The group was suspected of throwing an object at a property on the street. As Officer Fiore approached, the group fled. One subject, a 14-year-old male from Morton, was stopped and identified. The investigation is continuing.
Oct. 1 at 2:20 a.m.
A 37-year-old male from Drexel Hill will be charged with Public Drunkenness and Disorderly Conduct after being found intoxicated walking along the 100 block of Saxer Avenue. Officers were informed the male may have been involved in an altercation with a group of juveniles on the street and located the male on the 200 block of Powell Road.
Oct. 2 at 8:25 p.m.
Sgt. McKenna observed a male subject carrying a backpack and an open bottle of Smirnoff Ice malt liquor walking through a lot on the 100 block of Saxer Avenue. The male dropped the bottle upon seeing police and was stopped. He was found to be 14 year old from Media and possessed a vaping pen containing marijuana, and unopened bottles of Smirnoff Ice. The male was taken into custody and later turned over to his father. Charges will be filed.
Oct. 2 at 9:26 p.m.
A 17-year-old male from Drexel Hill will be charged with Disorderly Conduct and Harassment after it was reported that he knocked on windows and doors of a house on the 100 block of Harwicke Road in an attempt to harass the residents. Officers were in the area at the time and located the suspect on the property of Wawa Saxer Avenue. The male was identified and released to his father.
Oct. 2 at 9:55 p.m.
Officers observed a male subject loitering on the property of Old Central School, 100 block of Saxer Avenue. This subject, 18 years old from Morton, had been earlier involved with an Underage Drinking suspect and was asked to leave the area. He failed to observe the warning and will be charged with a township ordinance violation.
Oct. 3 at 2:02 a.m.
Officer Oswald observed two juvenile females in the area of Powell Road and Saxer Avenue. Due to being out after curfew they were questioned about their ages. They lied and said they were 19, dropped the backpack, and then fled on foot. One of the females was apprehended near Harwicke Road and taken into custody. She was found to be 17 years old from Springfield and intoxicated. She was later turned over to family and will be charged with Underage Drinking. The recovered backpack was found to contain eight Busch beer cans and 10 Natural Light beer cans. Through investigation, the other female involved was identified as a 17 year old from Springfield and will be charged with Underage Drinking.
Oct. 3 at 4:35 p.m.
Officer Lord observed a vehicle failing to use a turn signal on the 1000 block of Baltimore Pike and an equipment violation. He stopped the vehicle in a parking lot and identified the driver. He found the driver was in possession of a quantity of marijuana and a loaded firearm. Bernard Evans, 27, of Secane was taken into custody and charged with Drug and Firearms offenses. He was arraigned and transported to Delaware County Prison.
