Springfield Crime Blotter: Vandalism, Thefts, DUI, More

Police said five blue smiley faces were found painted on play equipment at Veteran's Memorial Park on the 300 block West Springfield Road.

SPRINGFIELD, PA — Springfield Police issued their weekly crime blotter Monday.

The blotter covers incidents that occurred in the township between Aug. 19 and Aug. 24.

Aug. 19, 1:15 p.m.
Target at the mall security reported a male subject had stolen a drone and a vacuum from display and walked out of the rear of the store. Officers arrived and observed the male walking towards the trolley stop. The male ran into the wooded area and hid. As officers were checking the area, the male showed himself and was taken into custody. Identified as Barry Williams 46, of Chester; he was charged with Retail Theft and Weapons Offenses and held for arraignment.

Aug. 19, 3:50 p.m.
Three males had gone to the mall together to shop and secured their bikes to the bike rack. When they returned, they found their bike tires had been slashed. Det. McNeely is investigating.

Aug. 19, 7:02 p.m.
Officers responded to the Sprint Store 1100 block Baltimore Pike for a report of a woman throwing merchandise around the store. They learned that Nyderah White 22, of Philadelphia, was inside the store and became unhappy about something and threw a speaker to the floor and threatened people inside with an iPad. When police were called the female left and ran towards the rear of the shopping center. Officers located her on Sheffield Dr. She was charged with Disorderly Conduct and released.

Aug. 20, 1 p.m.

Aug. 20, 7:55 p.m.
Officers were called to the 1100 block Baltimore Pike to investigate and male attempting to sell two espresso machines. Officers located the male who appeared intoxicated and learned the machines had recently been stolen from Target at the mall. Kevin Morgan, 53, of Philadelphia, was taken into custody and charged with Retail Theft and Public Drunkenness. A charge for soliciting without a permit is being considered. He was held for arraignment.

Aug. 23, 12:13 a.m.
While on patrol, Ofc. Paytas observed a vehicle stopped in the left turn lane on Woodland Avenue at Baltimore Pike and failed to move when the signal turned green. He checked on two occupants inside and found them both to be unconscious. The driver awoke and was found to be under the influence of a narcotic. The passenger did not awake and was treated by officers and medical personnel with Narcan which was successful. The driver, 34, from Brookhaven, was taken into custody and submitted to a blood test. He was released to family and will be charged with DUI and Drug Offenses.

Aug. 23, 2:59 p.m.
Aleah Roane, 27, of Philadelphia, was taken into custody and charged with Retail Theft after being observed by Target at the mall security stealing over $530 worth of clothing. She was held for arraignment.

Aug. 24, 10 a.m.
A resident of the 400 block Saxer Avenue reported her son’s BMX bicycle was stolen from the rear yard sometime overnight.
