Springfield Crime Blotter: Vehicle Break Ins, Theft, DUI Crash

Several unlocked vehicles were entered sometime overnight Thursday on Sedgewood Road and Wayne Avenue, police said. See full details here.

SPRINGFIELD, PA — Police in Springfield Township issued their weekly crime blotter Monday.

Incidents in the blotter occurred between Nov. 9 and Nov. 15.

Nov. 9 at 9:43 a.m.
A resident of the 300 block Orchard Road reported her unlocked vehicle parked in the driveway was entered sometime between 11 p.m. and midnight. Nothing was found missing.

Nov. 13 at 5:53 p.m.
A shopper from Giant Market, 700 block of West Sproul Road reported that someone removed a purse from her handbag as she shopped. Cash and credit cards were inside the purse, and credit cards were later used in Upper Darby Township Det. McNeely is investigating.

Nov. 14 at 9:40 a.m.
A 2019 Jeep vehicle was reported stolen from the 400 block of Wayne Avenue. The vehicle was taken sometime after 7 p.m. Nov. 13. Det. McNeely is investigating.

Nov. 14 at 9:45 a.m.
Several unlocked vehicles were entered sometime overnight on Sedgewood Road and Wayne Avenue. Sunglasses, jewelry, and storage bags were taken. A couple of the stolen items were later found on the 300 blocks of Lynbrooke and Sedgewood roads. Det. McNeely is investigating.

Nov. 14 at 1:21 p.m.
A woman reported parking her vehicle in the lot at the Church Road Park to walk her dogs. When she returned to the vehicle she found a rear window smashed out and her purse taken. Det. McNeely is investigating.

Nov. 14 at 1:32 p.m.
A vehicle and a house on the 200 block of Avon Road were both hit with eggs sometime overnight.

Nov. 14 at 4:42 p.m.
A 20-year-old female from Secane was stopped and arrested after stealing merchandise from the Target, 800 block of Baltimore Pike. Target security reported the female paid $5 for two bags loaded with merchandise valued at over $200 after she switched price tickets on the items. She left the area in a vehicle before being stopped by officers. She will be charged with Retail Theft.

Nov. 15 at 1:53 p.m.
Officer investigated a crash on the 300 block of Powell Road in which a vehicle struck a parked car. The driver of the vehicle, a 47-year-old female from Springfield, was found to be intoxicated and arrested. She did submit to a blood test and was later released to family. Charges for DUI and Traffic Offenses are pending.
