Springfield Police Blotter: DUI, Underage Drinking, Assault

Two 18-year-old women were arrested for underage drinking after a traffic stop on Dec. 27, according to police. See details here.

The blotter only features two incidents, one on Dec. 27 and Dec. 28.

Dec. 27, 9:04 p.m.
Officers investigated a vehicle driving inside the Mt. Sharon Cemetery 500 block East Springfield Road after hours. Officers found three people inside the car along with several bottles of alcoholic beverages and drug paraphernalia. The driver, an 18-year-old female from Springfield, was found to be intoxicated and was arrested for DUI. A passenger, another 18-year-old female from Springfield, was taken into custody and charged with underage drinking. Both were released to family. The third person in the vehicle was released at the scene.

Dec. 28, 8:16 p.m.
Monique McKnight, 23, of Philadelphia, was arrested and charged with retail theft and assault after being observed at Victoria’s Secret in the mall stealing over $600 of merchandise. Employees observed McKnight selecting numerous items and placing them in her purse. When they approached and asked if she needed assistance, she left the store before paying for the items. Mall security stopped McKnight, and McKnight physically resisted their effort causing one of the security officers to be injured. Officers took McKnight into custody and found she had an active arrest warrant from Philadelphia. She was held for arraignment at Springfield court.
