Springfield Police Blotter: Theft, Assault, Car Break-Ins, More
A Morton man was charged after police say he took toys from Target and paid for only part of them. Police recovered $170 in merchandise.
SPRINGFIELD, PA —Police in Springfield Township issued their weekly crime blotter Monday.
Incidents featured in the blotter occurred between Sept. 29 and Oct. 2

Sept 29 at 11:32 a.m.
Officers responded to the Target Store in the 800 block Baltimore Pk. to investigate a male subject who was recognized as someone who had stolen merchandise previously. On this date, Target security reported they observed him again selecting merchandise from the toy department. He went to self-checkout and paid for a few items but not all. He then left and was stopped by police at his vehicle. Officers recovered $170 worth of merchandise. The male, 38 yrs. old from Morton, was identified and will be charged with retail theft.

Sept 30 at 1:28 p.m.
An unlocked vehicle was entered and cash taken from inside on the 300 block Prospect Rd.
Sept. 30 at 7:14 p.m.
Two properties on the 1100 block Providence Rd. had items taken from the rear of their homes sometime overnight. The items were weightlifting barbells and wheelbarrows which were later found in the rear of properties on Country Ln.
Oct. 1 at 9:28 a.m.
Three unlocked vehicles on the 300 block Yarnall Dr. were entered sometime overnight. Cash and coins taken.
Oct. 1 at 2:52 p.m.
The Township Parks Dept. reported sometime during the week someone damaged the Gazebo inside Wagner-Wayside Park Saxer Av. by kicking or pushing out the railings.
Oct. 1 at 2:55 p.m.
A resident of the 200 block S. Norwinden Dr. reported a political sign stolen from the front lawn which occurred on 9-26. Video surveillance is being reviewed.
Oct. 2 at 8:27 a.m.
Several unlocked vehicles on Grandview Rd. and Parkview Dr. were entered overnight. Some had nothing taken, and the others a small amount of coins and cash.
Oct 2 at 12:42 p.m.
While on patrol, Ofc. Kingsbury observed a male pushing down a female in the parking lot of PetSmart in the 600 block of Baltimore Pk. The male fled in a vehicle while officers checked on the female. Investigation revealed the two, who were involved in a prior relationship, met to exchange personal items when the male pushed her to the ground and dragged her. Officers identified the male as a 61 yr. old from Upper Darby. Charges for assault are pending.
