“We just have to refocus,” said Furia. “We have to put that in the past and keep looking forward.”
Looking forward will be key for a young Cougar team with a chance to help its cause this week. With important league games coming up, Springfield must not lose focus. The first test will be Garnet Valley on Monday night.
“We know we have a big week ahead of us,” said head coach Jason Piombino “We aren’t going to dwell against previous games. That is what we said against Conestoga. Our focus is on the next game. On Monday night, against Garnet Valley, we have to go up to their place and focus on them. You are only as good as your next game.”
After Garnet Valley, the Cougars will host Upper Darby and finish the week up against Octorara.
“If we win three or more league games we are in the playoffs,” said Piombino. “By this time next week we should be able to see where we stand.”
Piombino believes his team has the talent to make a playoff push.
“We have to get a little better each game and we've been doing that,” said Piombino“ “We are shutting teams out. If we get into the playoffs, I wouldn’t want to be a team to face.”
Until then, there is only one thing the team can do.
“We just have to take one game at a time,” said Furia.
