Springfield football team improves to 7-0; the field hockey team ends the week with a win.
Boys' Soccer
The Springfield boys’ soccer team knew it was going to be a big week for them. The Cougars are in the middle of the pack for a playoff spot.
Springfield started the week off with a key Central League win over Ridley, 3-1. Mark Gurenlian connected for two goals. Senior captain added another goal to his already stellar season.

Junior Dave Sousa finished with three saves.
On Thursday, things did not go Springfield’s way against Radnor. The team needed a win or tie against Radnor to help their playoff chances.

The second half started with both teams not able to find the back of the net. Radnor then exploded with four goals.
Springfield will face a tough Lower Merion team at home on Tuesday. Springfield has only lost one home game all season.
Girls' Soccer
The Lady Cougars couldn’t muster a win against Central league foe Ridley on Tuesday evening. Ridley scored in double overtime to escapee with a 1-0 victory.
Springfield returns back to action in an away game against Lower Merion on Tuesday.
Field Hockey
Ridley shut out the Lady Cougars on Tuesday afternoon in a Central league matchup. Springfield was unable to catch up with Ridley after they scored three first half goals to finish the game with a 4-0 score.
The Lady Cougars had a few opportunities against the tough Ridley defense, but couldn’t find the back of the net.
Springfield’s luck didn’t change against Radnor on Thursday. Fighting tough weather conditions, Springfield played a tight came with the Red Raiders, 2-1.
Radnor scored a goal with a few minutes left in the game.
Meghan Dickinson had the lone goal for Springfield.
On Saturday, Springfield was able to win in a non-league match up.
Taylor Block, Meghan Dickinson, and Nicole Ward all scored for Springfield.
Springfield faces Archbishop Carroll on Monday.
Football
Springfield remained perfect as they defeated Upper Darby, 21-7.
The two teams were tied at seven heading into halftime, before Springfield scored 14 unanswered points to cruise to a victory.
Aaron Coyne finished with two touchdown runs.
Matt Reichter as able to connect with Ryan Strain for a 42-yard pass as well.
Springfield will put its 7-0 record on the line against Garnet Valley on Friday.
