Stolen Vehicle, Thefts, Underage Drinking: Springfield Crime Blotter

Police said a vehicle was stolen from the 500 block of Barry Drive as it was left unlocked with the key inside it.

SPRINGFIELD, PA — Police in Springfield Township issued their weekly crime blotter recently.

Incidents in the blotter occurred between July 24 and July 30.

July 24
Overnight Sunday into Monday morning, two vehicles were entered in the 600 block of North Bishop Avenue. Both vehicles were parked in driveways and left unlocked. A wallet was stolen from one vehicle and cash taken from the other.

July 25 at 9:24 a.m.
A resident from the 500 block of Barry Drive reported a vehicle stolen. The vehicle was parked on the street and left unlocked with the key in the console. Det. McNeely is investigating.

July 27 at 2:24 p.m.
Macy’s, 1300 Baltimore Pike, reported a shoplifter in custody. A woman, 60, of Philadelphia, was observed concealing fragrance bottles totaling $415. She was detained by security and turned over to police. She was charged with Retail Theft and held for arraignment.

July 28 at 2:34 a.m.
A resident from the 600 block of Sheffield Drive reported a suspicious group. Officers located four subjects who admitted to be coming from a party where they were drinking alcoholic beverages. A backpack containing Twisted Tea was recovered. The four subjects were all under 21 years old and charged with Underage Drinking. They were released to parents.

July 28 at 11:40 a.m.
A resident from the 200 block of Gleaves Road reported two packages stolen from his front steps during the day.

July 29 at 5:39 p.m.
Macy’s, 1300 Baltimore Pike, reported a shoplifter in custody. A man, 30, of Philadelphia, was observed concealing Polo merchandise in a shopping bag totaling $278. He was detained by security and turned over to police. He was charged with Retail Theft and held for arraignment.

July 30 at 9:04 p.m.
Macy’s, 1300 Baltimore Pike, reported shoplifters in custody. Two females were observed concealing merchandise in shopping bags and were stopped by security. Fernanda Padricia Castro-Cardinas, 26, of Bronx, New York, stole $1,302 in merchandise and Millaray Marita Garido-Torres, 32, of Bronx, New York, stole $245 in merchandise. Both were charged with Retail Theft and held for arraignment.

July 30 at 5:42 hrs.
Target, 1200 Baltimore Pike, reported a shoplifter in custody. A 19-year-old woman from Lansdowne attempted to leave the store with a cart full of unpaid merchandise totaling $596. She was detained by security and turned over to police. She was charged with Retail Theft and held for arraignment.
