Thefts, DUI Crash, More: Springfield Crime Blotter

A 19-year-old Philadelphia woman is accused of striking a police vehicle while under the influence, police said.

SPRINGFIELD, PA — Police in Springfield Township issued their weekly crime blotter Monday.

Incidents in the blotter occurred between Feb. 6 and Feb. 13.

Feb. 6 at 12:26 p.m.
Genet Mamo, 38, of Virginia, was arrested and charged with Retail Theft after Target security at the mall reported she stole over $1,200 worth of cosmetics and other merchandise. She was held for arraignment.

Feb. 6 at 3:46 p.m.
A resident of the 200 block of North Rolling Road reported a large amount of tools were stolen from a shed in the rear of the property.

Feb. 8 at 9 p.m.
Macy’s security at the mall reported a male subject had stolen multiple pairs of jeans and then attempted to return the jeans for a cash refund. The male, 49, of from Philadelphia, was taken into custody and found with cuts on his hand from cutting security sensors of the jeans. The male was later released, and charges for Retail Theft will be filed.

Feb. 9 at 2:16 p.m.
A vehicle stopped for illegally tinted windows on the 500 block of Baltimore Pike led to the driver being arrested for DUI. The male, 31, of Tinicum, exhibited signs of marijuana use and failed field sobriety tests. The male submitted to a blood test and was later released to family. Charges for DUI and drug offenses are pending.

Feb. 11 at 9:10 p.m.
Macy’s security at the mall reported a male had stolen over $1,200 worth of Polo shirts and was taken into custody. Officers responded and identified Kevin Castaneda-Corredor, 20, of Penns Grove, New Jersey. The male was charged with Retail Theft and held for arraignment.

Feb. 13 at 11:57 p.m.
While in the area of West Avenue on Baltimore Pike a police vehicle was struck in the rear by a vehicle traveling behind. The driver of the striking vehicle, a 19-year-old female from Philadelphia, was found to be intoxicated. She received medical treatment at a hospital and did submit to a blood test. Charges for DUI and traffic offenses are pending. The officer received treatment and was released.
