Youths Busted for Underage Drinking at Home

While on patrol in the 100 block of Duncan Lane on June 2 at 10:13 p.m., Patrolman Kai DiRemigio observed a youth on the front porch of a house.

When the youth noticed the officer, he ran back into the home. The officer noticed lights that were turned on in the home were now being turned off. The officer approached the home and observed numerous youths fleeing the rear of the house into the wooded area adjacent to the property.

Investigation showed that there was an underage drinking party at the home. The parents had gone out to attend a function for the evening.

Officers checked the surrounding area and eight juveniles from Springfield and one juvenile from Morton were taken into custody and transported to the . They were all issued citations for underage drinking and were later released to relatives.
