1. Starbucks is closing 250 stores, including these eastern Pa. locations (lehighvalleylive.com) — A Starbucks store at 745 Main Street in Stroudsburg is among six Pennsylvania locations the company plans to close as part of a 250-store reduction across the U.S. and Canada. Local customers and employees will be directly affected as Starbucks cites financial performance and customer experience concerns for shutting this busy downtown spot. 
2. Man arrested on multiple charges in Stroudsburg (newportdispatch.com) — A 27-year-old man was arrested in Stroudsburg on Oct. 1 after police linked him to a stolen BMW and an earlier foot chase at 7th and Main streets. Authorities say he gave a false name, fled officers last year, and now faces multiple charges including receiving stolen property, resisting arrest, and numerous traffic violations.
3. Monroe County man convicted of murder in Memorial Day bar shooting (lehighvalleylive.com) — Monroe County jurors convicted a Tobyhanna Township man of first-degree murder for a Memorial Day weekend shooting outside My Place Bar & Grill, a case investigated by Pennsylvania State Police in Stroudsburg. The victim later died at Lehigh Valley Hospital–Pocono in East Stroudsburg, and the defendant now faces a mandatory life sentence while a co-defendant cooperated in exchange for reduced charges.
4. Long-overdue N.J. train station project just got a $500K boost (nj.com subscription) — A long-delayed New Jersey rail project just received a $500,000 federal security grant, helping advance plans that ultimately tie into proposed Scranton–New York service with a stop in Stroudsburg. If fully funded and built, the Lackawanna Cut-Off restoration could eventually give local residents a new rail option to Hoboken, New York City, and beyond.
