1. Man dead after being shot multiple times in Allegheny County (pressnewsagency.org) — A man was found shot to death Thursday morning inside an apartment on the 2000 block of Locust Street in Swissvale, and county detectives are now investigating. Police say two suspects ran from the back door before officers arrived and have not yet been identified. Anyone with information is urged to contact the Allegheny County Police tip line.
   

2. Major traffic delays expected on Pa. highway as $100M repairs begin Friday (pennlive.com) — If you drive I-376 near Swissvale this weekend, expect single-lane traffic and major delays as PennDOT begins a $100 million Parkway East repair project. From Friday night through early Monday, both westbound and eastbound lanes will be restricted between the Churchill and Edgewood/Swissvale interchanges. The long-term project runs through 2028 and includes resurfacing, bridge work, drainage and lighting upgrades.
   

3. PRT to close Mount Washington Transit Tunnel, regional traffic roundup (triblive.com) — Swissvale drivers using the Parkway East should prepare for single-lane traffic between Exit 79B and Exit 77 from Friday night through early Monday as part of the ongoing $100 million betterment project. The roundup also highlights other regional lane closures, including on Route 51 and I-79, that could affect longer trips. Expect delays and consider alternate routes where possible.
   

4. Mat Davis becomes Pittsburgh's new fire chief (wtae.com) — Swissvale residents may recognize Pittsburgh’s new fire chief, Mat Davis, who once served as a part-time firefighter with the Swissvale Fire Department. Mayor Corey O’Connor officially appointed Davis, whose career began in Dormont and who has recently led community risk reduction for Pittsburgh. He’s been acting chief since June and now steps into the permanent role alongside other key city appointees.
