2.42 Percent Tax Hike In New Tredyffrin/Easttown Schools Budget

The Tredyffrin/Easttown School District recently approved its 2018-2019 budget, and that means residents will see higher taxes next year.

BERWYN, PA – Residents living in the Tredyffrin/Easttown School District will see a higher tax bill next year as the district's school board approved a new budget with a tax hike.

On June 11, the board unanimously approved the 2018-2019 budget, which stands at $146.04 million.

The new budget includes a property tax rate increase of 2.42 percent. That means a home assessed at $300,000 will see a a roughly $6,900 tax bill in the next year.

Homeowners eligible for the homestead/farmstead exclusion under Act 1 will receive a reduction on their 2018 property tax bills from state gaming fund revenue.

According to the district a $9.49 million shortfall was covered by the tax increase, reducing spending by $5.33 million, new fees, adding contributions from the fund balance, and more.

The final budget had a budgeted deficit of less than $1.5 million.
