5K Run To Be Held For Main Line Murder-Suicide Victim
The April murder of Meredith Chapman shocked the Main Line and surrounding communities. Now a 5K event will honor her legacy.

Meredith Chapman was new to the Main Line when she was murdered in her own home by Jennair Gerardot, whose husband was allegedly seeing Chapman, before Gerardot turned the gun on herself.
The murder-suicide shocked the local and regional community.
But now, a special event will honor the late Chapman, 33, by raising funds for a fund that will serve as a reminder of Chapman's legacy.

"This race serves as the kickoff of a fundraising effort to create an endowed scholarship in Meredith’s name at the University of Delaware for a deserving student pursuing a communication major," according to organizers.
The sMiles for Meredith 5K event will be held on Thursday, July 12 at Deer Park Tavern in Newark, Delaware.

Chapman lived in Delaware and worked for the University of Delaware – her Alma Mater – before taking a job at Villanova University and moving to the Bryn Mawr section of Radnor.
The race begins at 6:30 p.m. Online registration is open now for $25 a runner. You can still sign up the day of the race from 5:30 p.m. to 6:15 p.m. at the Deer Park Tavern.

Awards will be given to overall male/female finishers, overall masters male/female finishers, and the top 3 in each age group by male and female. Age groups are 13 and under, 14-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70 plus.
Following the race will be a party at the Deer Park Tavern until 8:30 p.m.
