More Disturbing Details Emerge In Radnor Murder-Suicide

A new report states Jennair Gerardot trained with firearms and tracked her husband's movements before killing Meredith Chapman and herself.

RADNOR TOWNSHIP, PA – The woman who killed her husband's alleged lover and herself in a Radnor Township home in April took dramatic measures to put an end to the apparent affair plaguing her marriage, including training with weapons and tracking her husband's movements, according to a new report.

Jennair Gerardot, 47, of Wilmington, Delaware, shot and killed Meredith Chapman, 33, then turned the gun on herself in Chapman's Lowrys Lane home in the Rosemont neighborhood of Radnor Township on Monday, April 23.

Now, a new report from NBC10 unearthed disturbing details on Gerardot's plan leading up to the murder-suicide that shocked the quiet Main Line town.

Additionally, Gerardot used a tracking device to monitor the movements of her husband Mark Gerardot, which likely led her to find Chapman's home.

Chapman and Gerardot were both found dead, each with a gunshot to the head, in Chapman's home the evening of April 23.

Police later discovered Gerardot had rented a vehicle, drove it from Delaware to Radnor, broke into Chapman's home, hid evidence of a break-in, then shot Chapman when she entered her home.

Authorities have said Chapman was planning to meet Mark Gerardot for dinner that night, but when she didn't show up, he went to her home.

NBC reports Gerardot sent Mark Gerardot photos from inside Chapman's home as he waited for Chapman at the restaurant. He immediately headed to Chapman's home and found them both dead inside.

Police were called after neighbors heard loud sounds come from the home and when they arrived they found Mark Gerardot outside, who told police he believed his wife was inside.

Police later told Patch that on Saturday, April 21 a Lowrys Lane resident saw a woman with binoculars staring at Chapman's home, but that resident ultimately did not alert police to the suspicious activity.

While it's nearly impossible to confirm that woman as Gerardot, police said the chances of it being a different woman are slim, as binoculars – along with ammunition, rubber gloves, and ear plugs – were found in Gerardot's rental vehicle.

Gerardot in early 2018 took to a social media site to ask for marriage and divorce help.

By all accounts Chapman was successful, working for WHYY as a news producer, and serving as communications manager for Delaware Congressman Mike Castle. She was also a former Delaware State senate candidate. She was married to Newark City Councilman Luke Chapman, but police said the couple were separated at the time of her death.

Before moving to Radnor, Chapman was the Senior Director for Marketing at University of Delaware, from which she also earned a degree in 2007. Mark Gerardot worked for the university briefly, as well.

Gerardot was a marketing and advertising professional, according to her LinkedIn account. According to her profile, she was most recently employed at Spartanburg, South Carolina-based CIRCOR Instrumentation up until December 2017. She was a Fort Wayne, Indiana native.

It's unclear at this point if the two women had ever met.

Mark Gerardot has not yet commented publicly.
