A Bunch of Brady’s debuts - This Day in History – Sept 26th

Back in 1969, ABC television premiere a television show with a catch them song.  It goes like this…“Here’s the story of a lovely lady who was living with three very lovely girls…”  This popular show was called the “Brady Bunch,” a show with a widow and her 3 daughters who marries a widower with his 3 sons.  One of the daughters was named, Marcia, Marcia, Marcia.  (just kidding)

Kennedy vs. Nixon in first televised Presidential debate

Back in 1960, the first televised Presidential candidate debate occurred between Republican Vice President Richard M. Nixon and Democrat, Senator John F. Kennedy.

This was the first of 4 debates between the candidates.  Nixon lost the debates to Kennedy and also the Presidency.  Furthermore, Kennedy seemed trustworthy to Nixon’s stiff appearance.

Broadway’s West Side Story channels Romeo and Juliet

Back in 1957 a Broadway musical inspired by Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet premiered.  Choreographer Jerome Robbins and playwright Arthur Laurents and composer and lyricist Leonard Bernstein created a play that became popular among the audiences.

This play featured gangs, romance and lots of singing and dancing.  This is one of Broadway’s longest running musical productions.
