Apple’s Steve Wozniak debuts "US Festival" - This Day in History – Sept 3rd

San Bernardino County, CA was the location of a pricey musical venue called the “US Festival,” which was sponsored by Apple’s co-founder, Steve Wozniak back in 1982.  This festival, which was comparable to Woodstock, featured numerous musical artists such as Pat Benatar and Van Halen.  The 3-day concert was held under hot, steamy 110-degree temperatures.  Mr. Wozniak had various air-conditioned tents to show displays of Apple’s technology future.  At this time the first Apple Macintosh Apple was 18 months away from being available to customers.

Oscar Winning Hollywood Director Frank Capra dies

Four Time Oscar Winning, Best Director, Frank Capra, known for his popular movies such as “It’s a Wonderful Life” and “Mr. Smith Goes to Washington,” died on this day back in 1991.  According to the New York Times, “Capra movies were idealistic, sentimental and patriotic. His major films embodied his flair for improvisation and spontaneity, buoyant humor and sympathy for the populist beliefs of the 1930s.”  Mr. Capra lived to the age of 94 before his death.

Cooch’s Bridge flies the “Stars and Stripes”

Back in 1777, during a Revolutionary War skirmish, Cooch’s Bridge in Delaware portray an act of symbolism with the display of the “stars and Stripes” flag. 

Patriot General William Maxwell gave the order to show the banner as a separation of his infantry and cavalry while his troops met to advance the battle of the British and Hessian troops.  This act signified a defeat of the rebels and forced a retreat to join George Washington’s military forces in Brandywine Creek, PA.
