Beethoven’s Masterpiece “5^th Symphony” debuts in Vienna

Back in 1808 during a concert in the freezing cold, Theater an der Wien in Vienna, Austria the world’s soon to be the world’s most recognizable classic music piece was introduced by composer, Ludwig van Beethoven’s Symphony No. 5 in C Minor op 67’s “Fifth Symphony.”  This composition would be one of Beethoven’s greatest Masterpieces and used in future movies, cartoons, ballets, and believe it or not, disco songs.

“Colo” becomes first Gorilla born in captivity

Back in 1956, Columbus Zoo in Ohio, welcomed the first-ever gorilla named “Colo,” born into captivity.  “Colo” who was named after a combination of the words Columbus and Ohio and was the daughter of two French Cameroon African Gorillas named Milli and Mac who were captured in the wild.

According to history.com, “At the time Colo was born, captive gorillas often never learned parenting skills from their own parents in the wild, so the Columbus Zoo built her a nursery and she was reared by zookeepers.” 

Colo’s birth initiated over 30 gorillas born at the Columbus Zoo alone.  The Zookeepers have developed natural gorilla habitats so that their mothers now raise captive-born gorillas.  Surrogacy programs are available in case the infant gorillas are rejected by their parents in which the Zookeepers raise the animals.

Colo, became famous due to her captivity birth and later became a mother, grandmother and great-grandmother to Timu, a gorilla infant to the first conceived by artificial insemination.  Timu became a mother as well in 2003 with the birth of her first baby.

Special Note:  According to ABC News, Colo is famous for picking the wins of sporting events.  An example of this Colo’s prediction of the NCAA men's basketball tournament.
