We are a boutique salon specializing in hair color, cut & design, giving individualized, unique attention to each of our clients – women, men and children of all ages.  M. Matthew Salon offers a quaint, comfortable setting with incomparable results.

Number of Employees, are there any plans for new hires in the future? As a boutique salon, we employ just a few keynote stylists to maintain a comfortable yet professional environment.  We are actively seeking qualified stylist to join our team.

Recent Project/New Product or Service: We are OPEN NOW!! and the salon will be celebrating its grand opening November 2013 and is proud to feature Goldwell, Redken, It’s a 10, Unique One, Keratin and many more to products. 

Education: I received my stylist credentials from the Five Star Academy of Beauty of Philadelphia PA.  I have taken numerous color classes and am certified in various Keratin Treatments.

Your First Job: I stepped into the hair industry in 1988 as an aspiring stylist at a highly revered salon at the time….in Trop World Hotel & Casino in Atlantic City, NJ.

Little Known Fact About You: Originally my aspiration was to become a professional musician (drummer), “a rock star”, if you will!!

Essential Business Philosophy: Every client should be treated like they are the only individual in the salon – given unique and personalized attention to achieve their best look so they can leave feeling as good on the inside as they look on the outside, if not even better!! 

Best Way to Keep Your competitive Edge: The relationship with a stylist is unlike most you will find in a small business environment.  Addressing our clients on a personal leve and leaving them with a heightened awareness of self esteem garners faithful clients, and is at the cornerstone of our values.

What is your Measure or Yardstick of Success: The true mark of a professional in this industry is to understand the client and give them a look that pin points what they want AND surpasses their expectations.

Mentor: Vidal Sassoon paved the way for innumerable stylists in the hair industry.  His core understanding, values and techniques in hair design seem to resonate even with the nuances in the industry, a trait characteristic of all the great pioneers in the creative field.

Most influential Book to you:  Seven Habits of Highly Effective People – After reading this book it enabled me to understand that I had a choice….to become whoever I wanted to be and not be limited because of where I came from.  It is all about the journey…..

Favorite Movie: As a Philadelphia native, “Rocky” claims the spot on my favorite flick list.  You can’t beat the determination, heart and setting of that classic!　

Favorite Restaurant Spot: Nectar in Berwyn is my favorite restaurant! “If you have never been, try the pan seared wild striped bass….it’s unforgettable!”

Favorite Room in your Home and why: My family room is the epicenter of my home.  I cherish spending time there with my wife and son.

Favorite Way you spend free time/hobbies/interests: I love music, especially playing the drums.  To release steam and re-connect, I enjoy a good workout.

Any other thoughts/stories or comments you would like to include (again can include specials/sales/new products/etc): My inspiration to become a stylist came from my father.  His guidance was the force that encouraged me to become successful in this industry, and the opening of M. Matthew is dedicated in memory of his advise and support.
