A great free tour to walk with nature

The Jenkins Arboretum & Gardens in Devon, PA has a free, weekly “Wednesday Walkabout,” a one-hour tour of the facility.  My Guide, Stephanie Kuniholm guided a small group of nature enthusiasts on a pleasant tour with native plants, ponds and a beautiful view overlooking a plateau.  The Jenkins Arboretum & Gardens website boasts it’s. “1.2 miles of paved walkway through native woodland, labeled trees, shrubs and herbaceous plants in several different garden areas.”

According to the Jenkins Arboretum & Gardens website, the history of this property is a beautiful love story. 

“The home and twenty acres on which the Arboretum was first planned were formerly the property of H. Lawrence and Elisabeth Phillippe Jenkins, given to them in 1928 as a wedding gift by Mrs. Jenkins' father, B. Pemberton Phillippe.

The groundwork for Jenkins Arboretum & Gardens was laid in 1965 when H. Lawrence Jenkins established the Elisabeth Phillippe Jenkins Foundation forever preserving his property as a living memorial to his wife, an avid gardener and wildlife enthusiast.
