Elvis Serenades in his movie debut of “Love Me Tender” - This Day in History – Nov 15th

This Day in History – Nov 15th

Back in 1956, singer and heartthrob, Elvis Presley starred in his first feature movie, playing the role of “Clint Reno,” the younger brother of a Confederate soldier in “Love Me Tender.” This movie also starred Debra Paget and Richard Egan.

According to history.com, “Originally titled The Reno Brothers, the movie was renamed Love Me Tender before its release, after a song of the same name that Reno sings during the film. Presley, who became one of the biggest icons in entertainment history, sang in the box-office hit Love Me Tender as well as the majority of the 33 movies (31 features and two theatrically released concert documentaries) he made in his career. Despite the commercial success of his films, many were considered formulaic and forgettable, and critics have argued that Elvis never achieved his full potential as an actor.”
