Back in 1924, Plains, GA was the birthplace of James Earl Carter, the 39th President of the U.S. Mr. Carter served one term in the White House from 1977-1981.

Mr. Carter who preferred to be called “Jimmy” instead of James was a devout Southern Baptist and the first President to be born in a hospital. He maried Rosalynn Smith in 1946 and graduated from the Naval Academy in Annapolis, MD.  President Carter and his wife have four children, named: Jack, James, Donnel and Amy.

“Heeere’s Johnny - The Tonight Show premieres

Back in 1962, comedian Jonny Carson replaced talk show host, Jack Paar as the host of the Tonight Show. The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson would also feature Carson’s sidekick, Ed McMahon and Bandleader and Trumpeter, Dock Severinsen.

Mr. Carson would keep this gig for three decades and retire in 1992 after and earning one of the top salaries in the entertainment business.  Jay Leno would be the successor of the hosting duties of this talk show. 

Thirteen years after Mr. Carson retired, he died at the age of 79 due to complications of

Emphysema. Johnny Carson’s comedic talent is apparent in the three video clips provided.

Yosemite becomes the U.S.’s 3rd National Park 

Back in 1890, John Muir, an Environmental Trailblazer and his colleagues convinced President Benjamin Harrison and Congress to sign into law the act to approve Yosemite National Park.  This area, located in the Sierra Nevada mountain range of California is the home of beautiful mountainous ranges and vast meadows. Yosemite is the U.S.’s 3rd national park. 

According to history.com, “Yosemite's natural beauty is immortalized in the black-and-white landscape photographs of Ansel Adams (1902-1984), who at one point lived in the park and spent years photographing it. Today, over 3 million people get back to nature annually at Yosemite and check out such stunning landmarks as the 2,425-foot-high Yosemite Falls, one of the world's tallest waterfalls; rock formations Half Dome and El Capitan, the largest granite monolith in the U.S.; and the three groves of giant sequoias, the world's biggest trees.”
