Hey, Hey, The Monkees have the top 40 hit - This Day in History – Sept 24th

Back in 1966, the television sitcom band The Monkees scored a top 40 hit with their song, "Last Train To Clarksville."  The members of the group, Peter Tork, Michael Nesmith and Davey Jones sang this song with lead singer of this song, Mickey Dolenz. 

The song was written by Tommy Boyce and Bobby Hart who also wrote this group’s television theme song.

Redford’s political thriller "Three Days of the Condor" debuts

Back in 1975, Sydney Pollack directed actor Robert Redford in top box office political thriller Three Days of the Condor.  This movie was based on the James Grady’s novel Six Days of the Condor, a story about a low-level C.I.A employee stalked by an assassin.  The movie also starred Max Von Sydow, Faye Dunaway and Cliff Robertson.
