I hate labor day! It signifies the end of Summer! The end of fresh fruit and flowers. Of tomatoes that taste like tomatoes. Of warmth and sunlight that you can feel on your skin, AFTER you go inside. Of warm breezes and lightening bugs. Of the smell of cut grass and seeing baby birds perched on a low limb, trying their first flight. Of iced tea and cold dinners, that take less time to make, so the is more time to do fun stuff. Of ice cream cones and cute clothes. Of white shoes and little white handbags. Of stealing time to run to the shore. Of planning girls nights with your friends, on nights when it shouldn't be a girls night. Of sandals and strawberry rhubarb pie. Of car windows down and feeling you hair blowing all over and you don't even care because it feels so good. Of gin and tonics, or rum and cokes, or watermelon mojito. Of leaving work early on Fridays. Of coming to work late on Mondays. Of the boys of Summer and picnics in the park. But mostly, it's taking things a little slower, appreciating life a little more, spending more time outside and with friends, and a vibrancy that permeates every moment of every day! That's why I hate Labor Day. There is nothing more to say. The end.
