The first game in American Basketball Association debuts
Back in 1967, the ABA, known as the American Basketball Association
Premiered with the first official game with the Oakland Oaks and the Anaheim Amigos.
The ABA was a league with more flair with its tri-colored basketball with a symbolic red, white and blue. Compared to the NBA’s orange ball.
According to history.com, “Until it folded in 1976, the league offered players and fans a freewheeling alternative to the stodgy NBA. "It was a looser atmosphere," one fan remembered. "We could do a lot of things [the NBA] won’t let us do"; these days, basketball games are "supposed to be family entertainment."
