Actor, John Travolta earns his first Oscar Nomination in “Saturday Night Fever”
Back in 1977, television actor, John Travolta who played Vinnie Barbarino in the highly popular show, “Welcome Back Kotter,” became an overnight movie star in the disco dancing crazed film, “Saturday Night Fever.” Mr. Travolta, who played the main character, Tony Manero a Brooklyn, NY native who donned a White Suit that would be a signature of this actor’s portrayal of a nighttime disco dancer who worked in a hardware store during the day.

According to history.com, Gene Siskel, “The prominent film critic (who died in 1999) reportedly watched the movie at least 17 times and even purchased the now-iconic white polyester suit Travolta wore while strutting across the lighted dance floor.”
The movie, which also starred actors Karen Lynn Gorney and Donna Pescow featured a soundtrack that is still popular today from the musical group the Bee Gees who churned out classic hits such as:

Talk Show Host Larry King calls it quits after 25 years
Back in 2010, CNN talk show host, Larry King decided after 25 years on CNN to step down from his popular show and move on to other opportunities. Mr. King’s hour-long show contained over 50,000 interviews with politicians, movie stars, musicians and other newsmakers. Mr. King had a 50-year career in radio and television that displayed his according to history.com, “straightforward, nonconfrontational interview style.”
