Masanori Murakami, a pitcher for the San Francisco Giants became the first Japanese man to play for Major League Baseball in 1964. Mr. Murakami played with baseball greats and fellow teammates, Willie Mays and Willie McCovey.
According to history.com, “the next Japanese player to join Major League Baseball was pitcher Hideo Nomo, who made his debut in 1995, more than 30 years after the trailblazing Masanori Murakami.”

Back in 1985, the sunken RMS Titanic’s wreckage was found 400 miles east of Newfoundland. The vessel was found in the North Atlantic 73 years after it sunk back in 1912.
Hinckley Minnesota destroyed in forest fire
Back in 1894, 300,000 acres of the Minnesota town of Hinckley was destroyed due to a forest fire. A total of 440 people died in this new lumber and rail town. While the raging fires moved towards Hinckley, 350 townspeople were able to escape by train to nearby West Superior, Wisconsin.
