Back in 1962, President John F. Kennedy declared the Cuban Missile Crisis due to the Soviet missile bases discovered in Cuba via U.S. spy planes. The missiles were within striking distance of Washington, D.C and other U.S. A naval “quarantine,” was ordered by the President to prevent any shipments of offensive weapons from the Soviet ships to the island of Cuba.
A "docudrama" based on these events in 2000 was released. Thirteen Days stars Kevin Costner, Bruce Greenwood and Steven Culp.

President Johnson and Lady Bird Johnson create Highway Beautification Act
Back in 1965, President Lyndon B. Johnson and First Lady Lady Bird Johnson developed a plan to limit billboards and other plans of outdoor ads, called, “The Highway Beautification Act.” According to history.com, “The act also encouraged "scenic enhancement" by funding local efforts to clean up and landscape the green spaces on either side of the roadways.”
